When sleep does come, it's fitful. The few hours I've gotten over the last week have not only not been *enough* rest, but they've been incredibly *low quality* rest, which just adds insult to injury.

I don't know if you've ever experienced the feeling of your body being absolutely *wiped* to the point of total exhaustion and your brain dragging so slowly that you start to feel like you might be floating through space, but it isn't fun. And sleep would fix it, but sleep won't come.

Last weekend, I dropped from 20mg to 10mg daily, meaning that in a few weeks I should be able to stop taking amitriptyline altogether. Yay! Even though I do not currently have any cardiac health issues, taking ami long-term could lead to them, and that's something I definitely want to avoid.

The *hope* is that the injectable will do what my oral meds cannot, but dropping those meds cold turkey would be dangerous. So I'm tapering off of one and then hopefully the other. The problem is that, every time I drop another 10mg from the amitriptyline, I spent about a week barely sleeping.

For me, amitriptyline helps with migraine prevention, sleep, and nerve pain. (Primarily.) Recently, my migraine attacks have shifted and worsened, leading my neuro to prescribe new medications to try to get ahead of them. For the last six months, I've been on a 30-day injectable preventative.

It was initially prescribed during a 10-day hospital stay for a rampant infection, during which I was also struggling with ongoing nerve pain, RLS, insomnia, anemia, and other issues associated with both diagnosed and undiagnosed (at the time) conditions.

It's 5:54 a.m. and I've had a total of ~19 hours of sleep in the last 7 days! Time for a little chronic illness thread. Since June, under the guidance of my neurologist, I've been slowly tapering off amitriptyline, which I've been taking (at a WHOPPER of a dose) since 2022.

There's also... so much slop. Which further buries creators. And as a reader, sorting through all of that to find something you care about is annoying. Following individual creators and subscribing to their Patreons or newsletters or socials or whatever for comics is a much better experience.

While Tapas and Webtoon have allowed a handful of creators to be "discovered" and trad published or have their work adapted, etc, the vast majority of creators on these platforms are constantly grinding to meet impossible standards only to burnout without ever seeing payoff.
