Embarking on a journey to uncover the hidden world of radioactivity around us. From rare minerals in the wild to surprising radioactive finds in antique shops, I’m on a mission to answer one burning question: where is the uranium?

on his way to St. Abbs, sorry, New Asgard.

Karlovy Vary was meant to be a transit stop. Three hours between trains, and we found a geyser that throws 2,000 litres a minute nearly 12m up, throws a rainbow when the sun catches it, reads 1 µSv/h on the Radiacode, & used to clog its own outlet for thousands of years before blowing itself clear.

In 1906 a retired miner called Josef Prennig carried radioactive water down a mountain on his back, 40 litres at a time, to the world's first radon bathers. They called him Thunderbolt. Two years later they replaced him with a pipeline. New video: youtu.be/0h0qm3aqXHM

Me, my radioactive pants and a bag from Fannies emporium in Morpeth right in the heart of Czechia. What more could you want?

Right, this one has been a long time coming. Jáchymov, in the Czech Republic, is the world's oldest radon spa. The baths are a prescription treatment there, the health service pays for them, and the water is pumped up out of a working uranium mine. youtu.be/0h0qm3aqXHM

On the channel we are admirers of all geology, and this example of soft/hard rock erosion in Turkey is just outstanding. And nothing to do with what it looks like.

A massive thank you to Radioactive Hunter from Prague who gifted myself and Mrs. UH two pieces of uranium 'slag' glass and the large radium-dialed clock, to add to one of my radioactive display cabinets Think i need a new one!

Season 3 of the channel starts with the most unlikely of items: a brown cardboard box, and a radioactive Nutella jar. Where's it taking me? To the home of radioactivity: Prague, Příbram and Jáchymov.

To answer why one corner of this Scottish island is radioactive, we followed the clues from the beach all the way to the summit. Here's 10 highlights from Part 2 of our Great Cumbrae adventure - I posted the first set a couple of weeks ago.

We climbed 400ft to answer one question: why is this Scottish bay radioactive? Kames Bay gave us the clue on day 1. 22 stops. Two videos. One answer. And it was hiding in a crack that runs right through the island. youtu.be/bApyOaPx1a4 #Cumbrae #Radioactive #Geology #Uranium #Scotland #RockHounding

When Amadeus first transferred from London to Broadway in 1980 the Broadway production starred Tim Curry as Mozart and Ian McKellen as Salieri and I would like to go back in time and watch that.

We paid one last visit to the Creetown Rock & Gem Museum this month. Sadly, it is closing this summer after 40 years. Part museum, part shop, part tea rooms, this has been one of our happy places for a number of years. Sad to see it go - we wish the owners an amazing time in their retirement.

Tip of the day: met a couple at Tynemouth market who flea-market Prague 4x a year. They pointed me at U Elektry - one of Europe's biggest. 600 stalls, vintage Czech glass everywhere. UV torch + Radiacode packed for Czechia next month. Wish me luck.

This one is even more bizarre, there is a fault (the great cumbrae fault) which splits the island and acts as a conduit. But here there are reduction spheroids; uranium-eating bugs which help to concentrate it.
