Yeah, but then again, same was basically true of Trump winning in 2024, but look at what happened anyway.

yes rhe “myth is everywhere” because it has to be perpetuated. just like the flattening idea of whiteness was created through continuous effort. don’t confuse the way things are with the way things would be in absence of those intentional projects.

Excerpt: Excerpt: In short, the hypothesis that including transgender people will somehow destroy women’s sports has already been field tested for decades, and the evidence is pretty clear: trans athletes are a tiny and under-represented group in the sports they play, and they are far from dominant.

It is about media making you so ‘irked’ that you waste your time defending your hatred of something that isn’t even happening or going to affect you . Trans people playing sports does not need government regulation. It is deeply unserious to pretend you haven’t been manipulated into hating people

its not that complicated tbqh. middle school and younger you don’t really need to check anything. high school and above you do a “keep testosterone levels below a certain threshold for a year” check. this is how things worked for decades before anti-trans activists fabricated the current moral panic

Meh. What I’d say is that it is something that can be worked out. Even if we pretend these two were serious, I don’t think anyone can rightfully say that they can start playing immediately before even a single hormone therapy round is administered. There can/should be guidelines for sure.

Nah. Most people simply know little about the issue, there's no trivial "right answer", and so it's easy to frame it (loudly) in a way that makes people concerned. If you list the biggest, highest impact issues affecting the US or UK where the govt should act... where do you rank "trans athletes"?

If that was actually true, just for one thing, Repubs would be winning elections all over the damn place even in the blue states. But this hasn't been happening, and in fact, quite the opposite. And a number of trans people have won elections, too.

This New Republic journalist is basically channeling me.
From https://newrepublic.com/article/195300/democratic-tea-party-bernie-aoc-failed-succeed:

The other path is, instead of replacing the activist class, they reform. Here’s how a left-progressive alliance could learn from their failures to win a Democratic Tea Party today:

1. All messaging should afford the right agency. Blame and anger for fascism should be focused on the fascists.
2. If you need to criticize Democratic politicians, run as being more pro-Democrat than they are, not less. The problem isn’t the party, it’s that they let the party down.
3. Avoid “both sides” rhetoric. Republicans are much more to blame for the failures of American governance.
4. Core liberal voters loathe and fear fascism. Stop insisting they don’t.
5. Recognize, apologize for, and work to redress the misogyny and racism that have festered unaddressed in the antiestablishment left.
6. Everyone who abstained in a presidential election—or even sympathized with or made excuses for those who did—should publicly apologize. Those who refuse to do so should no longer be welcome in the movement.

Don't forget millions of people allegedly staying home even though none of the ideological reasons that have been given for that since then hold up to any scrutiny. Or Trump somehow sweeping every swing state. Or how Dems had record support and fundraising while Repubs had barely any.

Technology is changing faster than people can keep up with— yet U.S. elections are entrusted to machines produced by privately-owned companies that count the majority of all votes cast in the country. What if the solution to cutting-edge technological attacks was actually looking at the paper proof?
