Robert McCall's cover art for "Pioneering the Space Frontier," the 1986 report of the National Commission on Space. The subtitle promised "our next fifty years in space." We have until 2036 to make it happen.

True, but Id argue the palpable lack of a vfin may in fact create one in negative space when contextualized...

generally though, generational divides (and how those become political ones), communication/empathy, agency, and the future as a hypothetical all of the characters are fighting over and trying to shape. I think that's part of why, for instance, ace combat feels so "gundam-y"

I think that it's largely a collection of vaguely related aesthetics/themes/archetypes that have been built up by subsequent series (generally in a dialogue with one another, see the "side timeline" boy band progression from wing->seed->00 for instance). V-finned robot in the earth sphere fighting?

One must imagine the Usean NIMBY in 2029 as somewhat akin to the kind of person that stays behind in a hurricane. Sitting on the porch with a rifle he picked up in 2004 yelling "get the hell off my lawn you Erusian bastard" at a Sotoan or passing ENSO employee

From the 5-min pilot of "Redline", directed by Takeshi Koike 7 years before the film's release (and not reused in the film). It's still just as rare to see such long proof-of-concepts produced for Japanese animated films projects. Full video >> www.catsuka.com/player/redli...

A somewhat maximalist, very collage-heavy experiment piece this month, using a lot of my photography and some old Slovenian art

Digital collage and painting on vertical canvas
Theme: Fantasy / Dark fantasy / Experimental
Character: My OC Lubi (he/him, transmasc) and a skeleton
#Artsky #QueerArt #TransArt #DarkFantasy #SwordAndSorcery

This piece is almost entirely composed of photographs I took. It features a central long corridor that disappears into the darkness, every side of it a different texture. The left and right walls are photos of old walls, the ceiling is wood, and the floor is an enlarged photo of a gingerbread cookie I bought in a Polish shop in Ljubljana once, overlaid with an assortment of Turkish delight from Lidl. I've had these two photos for like 3 years and I'm so happy to finally put them to use lmao

In the front, slightly left stands a knight, who was traced with a lasso tool over a relief sculpture from Celje. He's wearing a dark armour with very colourful accents on skirt and flag, and his head is a fire. On his knee guards, one can spot a unicorn and a stag beetle in trans flag colours.

In the upper right corner, a dragon's head is sticking out of a wall, the fire it breathes joining in with the knight's fire hair. For this head I used a photo from an ornament on one of the 'healing springs' near my hometown. It's coloured in somewhat garish colours that reoccur across the picture, magenta, aqua, green and blue, and notably three of its fangs depict the white, pink and blue or the trans flag.

Lastly, underneath the head stands a skeleton, cut from the famous Danse Macabre fresco from the Holy Trinity Church in Hrastovlje. The skeleton is orange with green shadows, and splashes of magenta on some parts of its body.

The closest analogy to SETI efforts I can think of, with regards to probability, is that theres a hypothetical tennis ball dropped from the roof of a single randomly selected building somewhere in Manhattan at an unknown frequency and one guy in a crown vic is trying to catch it with a bucket
