About 6ish hours into Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave, finished the 2nd main quest battle, and kinda disappointed at all the extra junk. I'm late to the franchise, but my fav FE are all entries where you battle, watch a cutscene, and battle again. Like real SRPG battles, not these half "events".

Hi there! Love these posts, wanted to ask if it would be alright to include some of these in our free magazine: Mage Magazine (thethirstymage.com/mage-magazin...) We'd absolutely credit, and if you wanted to write a more long form description for any of the items you share, love that too!

The last part not wanting school related things in a video game is definitely something a middle aged dude would say lol. The target audience is 13 - 29 year olds, gonna be plenty of school based games going forward. Re: the next Xenoblade is in a school lol

Blazing Blade and Shadow Dragon are peak Fire Emblem for me. This is coming from a guy who played Three Houses as his first FE and then went back and played pretty much every Fire Emblem last year. Having said that, still picking up Fortune's Weave today lol

I find the narrative around "getting reviews right" incredibly frustrating. Video games are art, a review is simply meant to convene the feelings of the writer and not some kind of universal truth about the game. People need to understand they don't need to defend a game they enjoy.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Review
Some context might be helpful going into this review: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter was my Game of the Year for 2025. In addition to that, the original Trails in the Sky SC was one of my top three video games of all time. I use the past tense because a new game has usurped that honour. It’s the same game that I’ve been waiting almost a full year to play.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection on PlayStation 5 Review
As featured in the April Issue of Mage Magazine, Paige reviews Monster Hunter Stories 3, the latest Monster Hunter Stories game from Capcom.I’m continuing my pattern of finally beating a game in a series via the newest entry rather than any other games I’ve put time into. With that said I only played like ¾ of the first game and like none of the second so if some of the stuff I'm praising was in the last one you’re just going to have to cope.

Resident Evil Requiem On PlayStation 5 Review
As featured in the April Issue of Mage Magazine, Casey reviews Resident Evil Requiem, the latest Resident Evil game from Capcom.Resident Evil has always held a special place in my heart ever since I was a young kid cowering in fear as my neighbors played RE2 on the PS1. Maybe it wasn’t exactly my favorite back then, but over the years through a combination of fear and intrigue, it’s earned its rank as one of my favourite franchises next to Final Fantasy and the Legend of Zelda.

As featured in the March Issue of Mage Magazine, Jordan reviews Yakuza Kiwami 3, the third title in the Yakuza series from RGG Studio. The Switch 2 launch year has been a good opportunity to re-familiarize myself with the Yakuza series, games that have always been enjoyable to me even if I didn't always see them through. The middle entries, namely Yakuza 3 through 5, are a bit of a blind spot for me; I've really only dabbled with them as limited time offerings on PlayStation Plus.

Mina the Hollower on Nintendo Switch 2 Review
As featured in the August Issue of Mage Magazine, Jordan reviews Mina the Hollower, the latest title from Yacht Club Games. Shovel Knight became an instant favourite of mine when it released in 2014. That it became expanded with three additional campaigns made for an incredible drip feed of NES-inspired content. When it all wrapped up the King Knight DLC, thoughts turned to what would be next for Yacht Club Games, and it was both a delight but also no surprise at all that their next game would have a similar retro flavour.

Already traded my Xbox Series X in for a Switch 2. I agree with making it into a full desktop, though I wouldn't want Windows on it, and I doubt they would allow Linux to be installed.

Lot of remake discourse today. No we don't need Final Fantasy VI remade, it's on modern consoles and is already great. We need more NEW pixel graphics games from Square Enix. Gimme more Octopath, gimme more Triangle Strategy, gimme new IP! I hope Resonance sells 10 million units and we get more

My anecdotal take on business slowing down for Sony is that the platform is stalling due to its lack of a stand alone handheld option. Steam has numerous dedicated handhelds, the Switch 2 is primarily a handheld. Ending physical media sucks, but I stopped buying PS5 games to play anywhere I want
