"I know I really need to do this thing or it will mess up my life but making myself do it is like putting my hand on a lit stove burner and keeping it there for five minutes" is the worst one for me. Followed closely by not knowing if the coffee will wake me up or put me to sleep...

The only response to that is, "Look, if I wanted to trust everything about my job and life to a water-wasting incompetence engine, I'd outsource to Thames Water" (or insert your water company here; they're all as bad as eacy other)

I particularly liked "work mindfully in relation to impact on human jobs, livelihoods, and the environment". AI isn't "investing in people's skills"; it's stealing those skills while burning the planet down around them, and the only "mindful" solution is tossing it into the nearest volcano to hand.

I don't think I ever felt normal, honestly. Too many of my formative years spent entirely around adults meant I didn't behave a lot like the other kids, and didn't know how to fake it, so...

Sometimes the best thing about streaming indie demos is finding one of the best games ever. Sometimes the best thing is uninstalling that thing and knowing deep in your heart that you never have to look at it again. Either way, there can be joy.

I've already got that one (though I went off it at the stealth section). Thanks for thinking of me, though!

I can only tell you from what I've seen on The Girl With The Dogs, but they do have at least a hint of the wider ... snout, for lack of a better term. More noticeable the older the kitten, and I think it's the kind of thing that might turn up in cross-breeds as well.

That I remember first-hand? The ceti eel scene in Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan. My dad was a major Trekkie, took me when he went to see it. I was five. That scene freaked me out, I started crying, Dad refused to leave the movie so I sat in the lobby by myself the rest of the movie.

Hot take on "best TV of the 21st century" (when we're only a quarter of the way through, no less) - THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS OBJECTIVELY BEST *ANYTHING*. There's "most watched" and there's "best reviewed", but "best" is subjective as fuck. I say we swap 'best' for 'great' in these stupid lists.

I'd bet either ratings or viewership numbers. Given how far up Game of Thrones is, probably viewership numbers.

I got a ticket to see Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - A Painted Symphony when they come to the O2 at the end of February! Nothing like the seat I wanted, since they don't like seating single people in "stranded seats", whatever that means, but I'm still GOING!

Things I've seen on Reddit that make me weep for humanity: "You are correct that blue whales are mammals however "fish" is not a scientific term and saying that any fully aquatic vertebrate is a fish is valid". Just ... no? I learned different in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

A long time ago, @amalelmohtar.com waxed poetical in my hearing about heather honey. I recently found gourmet heather honey ice cream, which I have tried on its own and with red berry coulis. I may not rhapsodise, but I see the appeal.

Trump saying "A unified Ireland would be great and will happen eventually so might as well be now" is either idiocy or an attempt at reverse psychology, 'cos all parties involved will now refuse to unify Ireland until that man dies. Both out of spite, and so he can't take credit.

I seem to remember that they tried a sort of a reboot - Muppets Tonight, mostly focused on TV show parodies. I would be that the argument is more about format - thinking variety shows are less accessible and arguing for trying TV parody again or, like, Muppet TikTok.

Let me get this right: if you're a retired vicar and peacefully hold up a sign opposing genocide, you're a terrorist. But if 1200 morons put on balaclavas and close half of Dover to stop people *escaping* genocide, police "constructively engage." Is that it? www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Is that the same Kanye concert that Milo Yiannopoulos was going to when he got nabbed by ICE and sent back to the UK in an epic "leopards ate my face" moment? (Thanks for that, ICE - we didn't want him either.)

People are terrifying me right now. I just saw screenshots of people saying that watching *actors in movies and TV* be intimate or kissing is bad because it's "people being vulnerable and we're watching without immediate consent". Is the brain drain so bad that people forgot what ACTORS are?!?

I hate the "exhausted but not sleepy-exhausted". I also hate that my only solutions to that kind of insomnia are "baking things" or "doing something ludicrous in a video game". Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get Monoco a Dualliste foot.

It's not even the game itself that's being given as a re-enlistment perk. It's "If you re-enlist for two more years, you get four days of special leave to play it!" I can't even.

Does this man understand what weather like this does to people? Pets? CROPS? We don't enjoy water companies doing "surge pricing" or higher prices for worse food. We can't AFFORD the fizzy wine anyway.

I don't get this. The water companies are en route to bankruptcy. They haven't built new reservoirs since 1992. But instead of the promised renationalisation to fix this, we're getting new water-guzzling datacentres, higher costs, and polluted water. What happened to "temporary renationalisation"?

I get that a lot. I worked near BBC Sherlock's 221b Baker Street exterior location, and worked at the hospital whose roof he jumped off. I've also walked through several A Fish Called Wanda exteriors. London and NYC are probably some of the most common city for that to happen about.

No problem. I also recommend Dungeons of Hinterberg, if you haven't tried it. Dungeon crawler, strong story. I haven't seen an official Switch 2 port but the Switch version is backwards compatible, so might be worth a try. Trailer if interested: www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7Jr...

His statement is that the fire and rescue service asked him to do this. Is it wrong that I have my doubts, if only because I figure they know what the national alert system is for, and it's generally *not* for a Smokey the Bear PSA?

With you on the Skyrim, but honestly everything Bethesda hits me this way. Open worlds can be too open and I find I need a little more narrative structure to get really invested, so I don't spend days just crafting and forget what questline I'm on. So Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Starfield? Not for me.

In any case, the Cormoran Strike books are full of transphobia, ableism, racism, you name it. In any case, the BBC is still running the adaptation of those books (not surprising here on TERF Island). And the irony of a transphobe using a male pen name isn't lost on me.

Unfortunately not entirely true. She writes a crime fiction series under the name Robert Galbraith that's popular enough in the UK to get its own TV adaptation. She insists that taking the name of a leading name in conversion therapy as her pen name was an accident, but I have doubts. 1/
