This is not a drill! Rocketwerkz have open sourced their BRUTAL framework, the foundation for Kitten Space Agency AND the new engine from RimWorld, for everyone to use for free as long as credit is given. Baller move.

Comparing anything to Outer Wilds is high praise. It doesn't look anything like it, more like Planet of Lana or Mio, but I enjoyed those, so for the current price, I'll check it out.

Let me be perfectly clear: "cheapest" here is still exorbitantly high. Higher than MSRP. The RTX 5090 was never available at MSRP. GPUs are the epitome of how messed up the computer hardware industry is right now.

020

ShadowZone @theshadowzone.bsky.social · 14/10/2026

Holy bloated cow! I looked up RTX 5090 prices and they are at SIX AND A HALF THOUSAND EURO right now?!??! If you bought at around 2,900€, you got the cheapest 5090 since it was released. This is absolute madness! Source: geizhals.at?phist=338234...

I see this and similar graphs shared around claiming the drone strike crippled right wing bot posters. The data does not support this. It only shows "bot traffic" is down. Could be web scrapers, AI agents, whatever. Yes, maybe right wing posting bots. But it is not verifiable. Updated graphs:

A graph showing http requests for Cloudflare node AS13238, a Yandex data center, from October 8 to October 12. There is an up to 92% decline in traffic, aligning with Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian data infrastructure.
This data is provided by Cloudflare Radar.

A graph showing the percentage of Human vs Bot traffic for Cloudflare node AS13238, a Yandex data center, from October 8 to October 12. It shows 99.6% Bot and 0.4% Human.
This data is provided by Cloudflare Radar.

AI slop spam on YouTube to the max. How many times do they want to do basically the same video? Are they testing thumbnail performance? We really need something like the Blackwall from Cyberpunk 2077 to wall off the human internet from the AI internet.

Went outside tonight to enjoy clear and dark skies with the Milky Way visible. At any given point there were at least two satellites as bright as bright stars also tracking through the sky. It makes me sad and angry that we had to give up a magical dark sky without having a chance to give input.

"Marrow Deep" is what I consider a "real" album at 1 hour and 5 minutes of length. You can really spend some quality time with it. And it ends on an almost 8 minute long epic called "The Three Fates" that doesn't get boring for one second.

010

ShadowZone @theshadowzone.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

Driving for 10 hours has one benefit: you can really get to know a new album. Or in my case two: Mastodon's "Marrow Deep" and The Warning's "Everything's Falling". Both are fantastic in their own way!

Look what I found in an open air museum on Mallorca. It's a miniature Starship (just about 10m tall or so).

A shiny sculpture of the "Starship" rocket in a sculpture park on Mallorca with YouTube personality ShadowZone standing in front of it and pointing at it. The sky is mostly clear with a few clouds, the grass is completely dried out due to the current heatwave in Europe.

Saw "The Odyssey" today. Yeah, it was good, but it has its flaws. Some choices by Nolan I do not agree with at all. And the cinema's sound system was cranked so loud, all of our group had to plug our ears at times. Very unpleasant.

If you haven't yet, read that story. It's mesmerizing, haunting, sad, beautiful. And if you have a bit more time, read the entire Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury, which this short story is a part of.

We already lost 20% of our harvest in Austria this year! If you think the current heat waves are bad, wait for next year. Or rather, don't wait! Whatever country you're in: call your politicians, tell them if they don't enact significant climate policies, people will die & they will be voted out.
