A better comparison would be something like pré 1917 Puerto Ricans, whose territory is controlled by the US but is not actually a US state nor were they us citizens

Anthropic’s slowing revenue growth is raising questions about whether it missed its best window to go public. Investors now see its IPO valuation closer to $1.5 trillion than the $2 trillion bankers previously floated. Read more: thein.fo/4BsN6kf

Did Anthropic Miss Its Peak IPO Moment?
It’s beginning to look like Anthropic waited too late to go public. Third-quarter revenue numbers disclosed to investors on Wednesday implied that its growth has slowed from the second quarter, which ...

Great post -- Sophie makes an important point: the results OpenAI announced with great fanfare are "normal for the current state of technology". The credit goes above all to the data -- the communal knowledge of mathematicians they relied to train their LLM

Consciousness: famously one of the hardest things to understand & explain. It fascinates me that so many random ̶I̶T̶ ̶w̶o̶r̶k̶e̶r̶s̶ people share their complex personal theories here, & that they’re so certain. Also that they respond to experts with the most amazing technical-sounding language. Like poetry.

Re previous conversation. I think the reason tech people are so comfortable with AI "proofs" is that claiming a flakey, half arsed PoS solves a problem that it clearly doesn't is par for the course in that field

Do you know every definition in the openai lean proof is 100% correct, that there are no sorrys in any of the statements it relies on? That all their definitions are correct? How do you know this given the lean code and associated paper is unreadable even to experts?
000 0
theseouldan.bsky.social @theseouldan.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Point of Lean is that it will verify that a given statement logically derives from a series of other statements, not that those statements match what openai claims they do - and, because of that paper you dismissed, we know that in some cases they don't

Unlike the counterexample to the Jacobian conjecture that everyone instantly recognised as correct or some of the other ai outputs. Mainly because openai generated unreadable slop in this case

theseouldan.bsky.social @theseouldan.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Not sure why we are pretty sure given no one actually checked the proof. Most professionals I know **assume** it's at least directionally correct but I don't know any professional who would claim they are certain until some goes through it line by line

theseouldan.bsky.social @theseouldan.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
What it says is the "proof" may not be an actual proof of Navier stokes but might be something else but until someone actually works through the slop no one is really going to know

Mathematician: Who at OpenAI can I contact about you using my results without credit? OpenAI: No one
Text from Math Overflow post:

On October 6, 2026, OpenAl released a large collection of mathematical manuscripts on GitHub.

I noticed that some of these
manuscripts, particularly Families 335 and 336, generalize two results from my earlier paper, posted on arxiv on September 2, 2026, but do not mention it.
I contacted OpenAl Support, but they informed me that they could not forward my message to the responsible researchers or provide a correspondence address.

Is there an official or established way to contact the authors or researchers responsible for these manuscripts to report corrections, missing references, or other scholarly concerns?
