Today I signed a contract on a 1 bedroom condo that is only slightly cheaper as a mortgage than the rent in my area. It will still be more than half my take home. Couldn't go for the DPA grant cause it takes an *extra* 3-6 months to close. @kathyhochul.bsky.social @mayor.nyc.gov

So the HomeFirst program is unusable because you have to convince the sellers to wait an extra 120 days to close and the SONYMA becomes unusable when you find out stacking increases the interest & you cant recast. You end up in the same spot if not worse off. @governor.ny.gov @mayor.nyc.gov

I can rent the condo for 3000 per month or buy the condo for 3500 per month. I can stay where I am for cheaper than both but I will probably die from sepsis if not the actual cancer, this is the better option right now. I cant afford to not just let the cancer kill me.

I have been home shopping for 4 days, I have exhausted the area of listings I can afford. Most are in horrific shape and I would still be struggling terribly. Between this and the 2+ year cancer battle....8 surgeries later with 2 more to go, I have never been so close to giving up as I am right now

Clarence Thomas's concurring opinion in the trans sports ban case in West Virginia contains some of the ugliest transphobic stuff I have ever seen in a legal opinion. Straight-up gleeful. Vile man. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...
2 WEST VIRGINIA v. B. P. J.
THOMAS, J., concurring
judgment). Because “gender dysphoria” is a mutable men-
tal state that is the object of psychiatric treatment, it does
not resemble the immutable characteristics on the basis of
which our precedents have applied heightened scrutiny—
race, sex, or national origin. Instead, gender dysphoria re-
sembles other characteristics on the basis of which legisla-
tures may classify with a merely rational basis. See, e.g.,
Heller v. Doe, 509 U. S. 312, 321 (1993) (mental illness);
Plyler v. Doe, 457 U. S. 202, 220 (1982) (immigration sta-
tus). Legislatures have many obvious rational bases to
keep men who believe that they are women out of teams
and private spaces reserved for women.
Second, as the Court recognizes, this case concerns “bio-
logical men” and “boys who identify as girls.” Ante, at 10,
27. Men and boys with gender dysphoria are not women or
girls, even if they believe that they are. Sex is an immuta-
ble “biological” characteristic, see ante, at 10; it is binary;
and “man” and “woman,” “boy” and “girl,” are the terms that
correspond to adults and children of each sex. See A. Byrne,
Are Women Adult Human Females? 177 Philosophical
Studies 3783, 3786–3787 (2020). To use language to ob-
scure reality—to show “indifference regarding the truth”—
is to lie to the public and cease to treat our fellow citizens
“as equal[s].” J. Pieper, Abuse of Language—Abuse of
Power 17, 21 (1992).

Russia and Israel's war on civilians##
Targeting civilians and civilian buildings is a war crime under the Geneva Conventions and Additional Protocol I. The double-tap tactic, timing a second strike to hit rescuers, is separately prosecutable as an attack on protected persons. Major Yarmolenko's death illustrates both in a single event. The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin in March 2023 over the unlawful deportation of Ukrainian children. The overnight strikes add to an evidentiary record Ukrainian prosecutors and ICC investigators have been assembling since February 2022.

That record now sits alongside another one, and the comparison is instructive. Since 7 October 2023, more than 65,400 people have been killed in Gaza and 167,160 injured, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health as reported by OCHA. The confirmed breakdown through October 2024 included 13,319 children, 7,216 women and 3,447 elderly. Israeli forces have struck residential buildings, hospitals, tents sheltering displaced families and people waiting for aid continuously across the length of the conflict. Like Russia, Israel says it targets only military infrastructure. Like Russia, it has used double-tap tactics against rescue crews. Like Russia, it has killed the people who came to pull survivors from the rubble.

Documented incidents establish the pattern precisely. In October 2024, an Israeli airstrike on a five-storey residential building in Beit Lahia killed between 55 and 93 Palestinians, including 25 children. In December 2024, a strike on a shelter in the Nuseirat refugee camp killed 33 people, the majority children. In April 2025, a strike on a residential building in Shuja'iyya killed at least 35 people in an area crowded with displaced families. Each time, the IDF said it was targeting militants. Each time, the UN documented mass civilian casualties with no credible military justification established.
