It was my #birthday recently and it’s been a few years since I’ve been able to celebrate. ALSO, I passed my #Italian language test so I can officially apply for citizenship! If you want to #celebrate with me: Kofi: ko-fi.com/therookthera... Animal Rescue #wishlist: www.amazon.it/hz/wishlist/...

Bump! Hello, Dolly! (At least that’s her current working title.) Believe it or not her eyes ARE improving w/ the help of some antibiotic drops. Thank the gods. Feeding her is easier but still tricky w/ the supplies we have access to in our town. We think she’s about 4 wks old.

This tiny nugget was dropped off at our door over the weekend. We’re working with our town to set up an animal rescue but bureaucracy takes time. Until then we have this little lady & more than a dozen others who need help & can’t wait for the red tape to clear. To help, check out the links below:

I think I found a working solution! At the start of every match, I ask if my opponent is human. If they don’t respond before the game auto-aborts, I don’t play I haven’t faced an obvious bot-user since

120

The Rook & The Raven @therookandtheraven.com · 17/08/2026

I will never understand people who use bots to cheat at chess games online. Like why are you even playing? My opponent played 10 moves himself and turned on bot when he started losing, he turned on the bot. Next 45 moved each took under 2 seconds and all 100% stockfish Then trash talks me 🤷‍♂️

Exactly, that’s collecting expected revenue *per parcel* — it’s worth spending the resources to enforce PPWR fines aren’t revenue, but expense offset and are *per sender* — it’s the same cost to go after one sender of 12 pkg/yr as one sender of 100k pkg/yr There is no incentive to go after micros

100

The Rook & The Raven @therookandtheraven.com · 12/08/2026

Think about the economics of it Monitoring and enforcing the PPWR costs money and each member state has to foot their own bill They aren’t going to spend to watch for a few thousand separate businesses that each send a dozen packages a year max, and who will stop importing rather than pay the fine

110

The Rook & The Raven @therookandtheraven.com · 12/08/2026

If you ship to Europe and you’re worried about the new PPWR, we wrote up an explainer on it and why we don’t think you actually need to worry over at corvocattivo.it And here’s the threads posts referenced in the write-up:

This is an *excellent* example of inclusive gaming This level in #InfinityNikki is different from the normal gameplay in that it features an unstoppable creature chasing you for the entire level, which requires a degree of quick thinking and dexterity that isn’t needed anywhere else in the game

A banner across the top of the Infinity Nikki game screen reads: “This level may be difficult. Want to skip it?
Important story content will be shown as a plot summary. You can return at any time to experience the full content.”

So, our kids are neurodivergent and we learned this year that their school really isn’t able to teach them There’s a larger school in a nearby town that has teachers that our kids love and who are able to teach them There’s just one problem and that’s why we put this up ko-fi.com/therookthera...

We keep trying to record Rook’s #outerwilds playthrough and I think it’s a cursed project. First recording session, we started too late at night and Rook started nodding off Second recording session, the cord on our camera was apparently dying throughout the session, so the video is super choppy

We’ve been so heads’ down for the past year or so, working on our YT channel and game, that we’ve largely forgotten about social media But now that we have things to share, we have to start from scratch to figure out where people actually are nowadays What platforms have nerdy communities now?

141

The Rook & The Raven @therookandtheraven.com · 26/05/2026

All of that is to say, while we can provide very generic info and links, we do not consider ourselves qualified to provide in-depth advice on individual products I hope this helps

130

The Rook & The Raven @therookandtheraven.com · 26/05/2026

Some examples could include things like: - testing metal parts for lead - identifying choking hazards - ensuring fabrics don’t contain toxic chemicals that are banned in the EU You should include safety sheets from parts manufacturers, e.g. the sheet from the fabric manufacturer

130

The Rook & The Raven @therookandtheraven.com · 26/05/2026

There is a whole guideline website linked below, but the short version is that you, as the maker, need to document what risks your product could pose, show what safety testing you’ve done, and basically guarantee that the product you made is safe ec.europa.eu/safety-gate/...

ec.europa.eu

Safety Gate: the EU rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products

120

The Rook & The Raven @therookandtheraven.com · 26/05/2026

The difficulty in providing advice is that the documents needed depend on the product itself, so there isn’t a simple template to fill out The manufacturer is responsible for providing safety documents, so if you’re the maker of an artisanal product, you have to make the safety doc
