As of right now, I am calling off my boycott of Warner Bros. Discovery that I started in July 2022 and I will enjoy WB stuff regularly again. I am still mad that they wrote off and cancelled Final Space, but it's safe to say that it's not the current administration who did it, It was Discovery.

I was really one of the only cheerleaders of this merger because I did not want to see Netflix own WB while the cable networks die and I really wanted to see Cartoon Network still have life put into it. I just hope for the best for Paramount and Warner Bros., and I hope they can manage this time.

I'm still very cautious about this merger, there will be layoffs, I don't think it will be an astronomical sense of layoffs (from what I've seen at Paramount Skydance, nothing was nightmare material like what WBD's layoffs were), But they will hurt a lot from what I can tell.

Let's consider the fact that David Ellison will not write off as much stuff as Zaslav did, and honestly that is a very low bar for me thinking he's better than the other one. Ignoring political and personal connections, writing off media is so much worse than what Ellison did in his first year.

I feel like I'm the only one that's excited for this merger only because it's not Discovery. All in all, I don't think this merger is going to last as short as people think it will last, but it will definitely not last more than 2 or 3 years. And also It will probably be disastrous, but not bad.

I really loved when SpongeBob used live action footage, it was really fun to see low budget stuff like the patchy segments, But also seeing stuff like this within the episodes.

And to make it even worse, all of the modern Adult Swim cartoons are nowhere near as good as Final Space. Royal Crackers, Common Side Effects, Haha You Clowns, All just ugly hot garbage. Let's just hope the new management at Skydance can help AS still stay normal and have them experiment more.

For everyone complaining about the golden parachute, be grateful he isn't a billionaire because of this. I hate him so much that I've been boycotting WBD for about 4 years because of his decisions. He cancelled and wrote off Final Space to oblivion and I don't trust him because of that.

I could honestly see Cartoon Network Studios being the more creator driven animation studio while Nickelodeon is more for franchises. Very similar to how Paramount TVS and CBS Studios work for adult animation. And they would also insert Williams Street as the Indie adult animation studio.

On the plus side, from what I've seen, it doesn't look like David Ellison will be doing that many write-offs. And that is the bare minimum, because I don't even know what he's going to do with the $80 million in debt that they have

Nickelodeon is the kids and family brand which has a big audience of SpongeBob. And BET is still making money off of the Tyler Perry deal and people are watching those shows.

MTV still has endless reruns of Ridiculousness, but they are looking to revitalize it as a music channel or something related to music. Comedy Central has a big audience base of South Park and also more adult animation like Beavis and Butt-Head.

Also, please have them watch good stuff from PBS. Don't just blindly give them a tablet and Make them put on Pinkalicious. Make them watch more quality stuff like Elinor and Luna and Carl the Collector.

While I will miss Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, and this more creator-driven mindset is going to disappear in Paramount, I just find it funny that the last movie by WB happens to be a Tom Cruise movie, a guy that Paramount, and especially Skydance, loves to use.

I find it ironic that this came from the creative driven minds of WB. Don't get me wrong, I like Sinners and One Battle After Another (Even if that just sounds like a James Bond film) and even stuff like The Bride and Mickey 17, but getting Tom Cruise to make a film for you just feels like a dud.

I guess people at WB are feeling like how the Raiders felt after Josh McDaniels got fired. Brief moment of joy because literally the devil is gone from WB until the giant storm comes in and throws everything away.

Plus, aren't Skydance one of the only companies to still do DVD releases? I know they still do a SpongeBob season release and also they do the South Park DVDs, I want more physical media releases and even Skydance has proved they don't want to fully go to digital.

It's so funny seeing this because back then this was referring to when Zaslav was planning to buy Paramount, and the tides have shifted and honestly I don't know if it's for the better. Nevertheless, both of those would be bad decisions in hindsight.

I think it happens often, but only when it's referring to the films. I think M Night Shyamalan does the same when he's talking about The Last Airbender and people confuse it with Avatar.

He is really the Josh McDaniels of the movie industry. He came in to a corporation, destroyed its value and the culture of the building, It was very toxic to work there, and once he left, most of them were celebrating. Josh McDaniels did this with the Broncos and the Raiders, Zaslav did this to WB.

I always forget Nick Studio 10 had Noah from Smosh before he became a member of Smosh in it. I think Nickelodeon also had shows that Shayne Topp appeared in as well (Fred the Show as the cookie, Sam & Cat as Vance Anderson), And I also think Smosh also appeared on Awesomeness TV.

All I'm going to say is... Be careful out there. If you see too much doomposting on Twitter or on Bluesky, Just remember that you can always take a break. Do everything what you want to do, draw, go outside, take a walk, do anything to not focus on the doom. It will make things a bit better.

But knowing that things are going to change from a rich billionaire to a rich billionaire's son who has connections, it's going to be a rough few years. Just remember to fight the fight and still support anything that's going on. Support anything from them, just remember it's okay to do that.

Just knowing that the David Zaslav era is done for, it's just a breath of fresh relief. Especially knowing he's gone and not getting a big payout because of the merger. He's not going out empty handed, but he's going to be gone with not as much money as he entered the merger with expecting.

I really, really, REALLLLLY hate Discovery for what they did to WB, they damaged my relationship so much with the company that I was still boycotting them until the merger was complete. You don't know how it's been without watching Adult Swim for the past 4 years mostly.

That being said, I will still be extra cautious with this merger because anything can happen. I give it 2-3 years tops, which seems very long, but that's also the same amount of time AT&T owned WarnerMedia, And I'm expecting something similar to happen to this and WarnerMedia.

I feel like I'm the only one that isn't dooming about this. For comparison, everything that happened within the first year of WBD was far worse than what happened during the first year of Paramount Skydance. There was no lost media created, they still put on shows, it went normal.

I've always loved the team themed flavors. I believe Perry's also has a Sabres flavor and a Ohio State flavor and a Pirates flavor, And I think they used to have a Bills flavor and a Syracuse flavor.
