Did you miss excerpts from the finalists for, and winner of, the 2025 Armory Square Prize for South Asian Literature in Translation? Read translations from Tamil, Sinhala, Kashmiri, and more, including an excerpt by prizewinner Mehdi Khawaja: wordswithoutborders.org/read/collect...
At the top, portions of the five colorful images representative of each piece in this issue over a black background (a grassy field near a body of water, a red tropical flower, a painting of a man with his hands clasped together, an open book of colorful written characters, and a decorative pearl design). Below them, white text reads:
“The 2025 Armory Square Prize for South Asian Literature in Translation
Excerpts from prizewinner Mehdi Khawaja and the recipient of the Special Jury Mention, plus work from the three finalists”
In the bottom left, the WWB logo in white, and in the bottom right, the wordswithoutborders.org URL.

It mentioned the different languages he's been translated into and the translators who did the translations. I also gifted him my Tamil translation கடலின் நீண்ட இதழ். He asked me to sign it lol. My Tamil handwriting which is generally cute turned out to be a கிறுக்கல் because of all the stimulation.

It was wonderful listening to discussions on Tamil literature and Author Perumal Murugan talking about his life experiences. I got to read (not give, because I get nervous in front of a crowd and my brain transforms into a sieve) a speech that I wrote for him on the title பெருமாள் முருகனின் உலகளாவிய தாக்கம்.

Dr. Mack literally wrote the book on end of the universe scenarios, and she did it with brilliance, good humor, and enough bone-chilling fear to make it scary. And, well, fun. Anyways, if you want a crisis, read her book.
