lol Don't! I'm sure we both have a long list of IP sitting in limbo because the studios refuse to let them go or do anything with them.

RDJr is apparently getting a nine-figure package exceeding $100M for the two-film Doomsday arc, which might also include performance bonuses and back-end deals. On the one hand I don't begrudge him cashing in like this; on the other, $100M could have funded multiple original indie films.

😢 It sucks, and it's getting worse. You can't make an original film because nobody will watch it; and you can't make a film from an IP if it's either too niche or too old because "there's no audience for it".

Do yourself a favour, go see it, not for Tom Cruise but to make sure this kind of ballsy filmmaking can still happen. Because now that Skydance has so much control over Hollywood, it could be a long time before Warner Bros. releases another like it.

Digger is a work of art, a real cult classic. I can see why the trailers are cut the way they are; they cannot tell the full story without revealing the film's layers and spoiling it.

It reminds me of big swings like The Adventures of Baron Munchausen by Terry Gilliam. Wildly ambitious, utterly bonkers, and the world is richer for its existence.

I don’t know how Iñárritu can pass this off as a GenZ movie though, I can see what he was thinking but that was a misfire. It’s more than that.

I'm still glad this movie exists and that Iñárritu and Cruise took a punt on it. In a world where every film feels like a safe bet for an instant box office weekend return, Digger gives it the bird. I honestly don't think Cruise thought this would break any records or even break even at the box office, despite his pulling power. I think he knew this film would play the long game and get people talking about it long after it's gone from the big screen.

That's how I feel about Digger. You can't define it unless you've seen it. And the messages are subtle, layered and crystal clear all at the same time. Sure, it's got some inconsistencies and niggles, but what movie hasn't?

Plus, Maggie the Cat is the real star of the movie.

Do yourself a favour, go see it, not for Tom Cruise but to make sure this kind of ballsy filmmaking can still happen. Because now that Skydance has so much control over Hollywood, it could be a long time before Warner Bros. releases another like it.

Everyone will focus on the box office bombing, and that’s a real injustice.
