yeah it happened at a halloween event the weekend before actual halloween which is why any and all halloween content in kpop stopped abruptly in 2022

110

hungry like the wolf @theomegapoint.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

unfortunately i don't think we're ever going to get costumed halloween dance practices in kpop back, given that they stopped doing them in 2022 bc of a horrible national tragedy 😔

Usually if you say you experienced something through a Let's Play people will judge you for not actually playing it or whatever but if you say "I experienced Danganronpa through the Something Awful Let's Play" it actually kinda means you're an OG

it gave me nightmares so bad and persistent my parents went "wowie! enough of that. no more of that for you." anyway i invented the backrooms in the 90s bc the nightmare was specifically that i was in the sewers being chased by that one character who looks like the sandworm from beetlejuice in drag

it's actually so funny that if you look up "guideverse" instead of "sentinels and guides" most of the content is like "nobody really knows who came up with it or where it comes from!" and i'm like "... technically incorrect! however, in this case, half points."

010

hungry like the wolf @theomegapoint.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

i cannot stress enough that the sentinel isn't even popular. the only people who watched it was the slash fandom in like 1996 or whatever when it was airing, which was like 50 people at the time, and my partner, the only person under the age of 40 who saw it

120

hungry like the wolf @theomegapoint.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

when those fans started reading english fic, they were further introduced to several other english-language fandom tropes, of which sentinels and guides was one. korean fandom saw the works japanese fandom was making with this concept and in like 2020 created the now ship of theseus trope guideverse

120

hungry like the wolf @theomegapoint.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

so these extremely influential fans then took the fanon version of the sentinel and made aus of it in other fandoms, which made a bunch of things invented by the gdp series into "canon" that aren't in the show at all. then japan got A/B/O in 2012 via the omegaverse project

110

hungry like the wolf @theomegapoint.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

this singular series essentially codified the trope of sentinels and guides are known, which the sentinel fandom liked so much they just decided to treat that fic like it was canon and the people who eventually went on to create ao3 created the very first automated archive for the sentinel

110

hungry like the wolf @theomegapoint.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

the answer is my partner wrote a chunk of that page so: (1) time in like episode 2 or something a character referred to the one character as a guide, which resulted in the trope of "guide" becoming a thing in the sentinel fandom. then a fan wrote a MASSIVELY popular fic called the gdp series

210

hungry like the wolf @theomegapoint.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

the sentinel is just racism all the way down and there aren't even any guides in the show lmao < married to someone who actually watched the sentinel and complains about this all the time

the compliments i get on it are SO FUNNY. a guy told me he liked my "ninja gaiden" mask. a person so very clearly tried not to misgender me but pink dress+hala hala mask gave them nothing. someone looked me over and said "nice mask" sincerely, but like it was the ONLY good thing.

120

hungry like the wolf @theomegapoint.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

when i ate shit in the black skirt i made for the second time going to chrocktikal earlier this year, my partner very sincerely said "babe, i think you're allergic to being goth." (he is goth.) but i wear this mask! and i regularly wear it with the rest of my barbie-ass wardrobe.

120

hungry like the wolf @theomegapoint.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

the most complimented object i have ever sewn is the hala hala mask i made to see ateez in 2024, which is fine. however. the funny thing about this mask, which i wear all the time bc it's comfortable, is that most of the rest of my wardrobe. is pink. not like alt. like barbie.
