I notice that when I tell people I studied Geology, especially when I travel, one of the first responses I get are “so do you work in mining or oil/gas/energy” which makes me cringe. But even when I was an undergrad, I thought I’d be limited to these jobs, and that almost put me off pursuing it.

I personally think that people need to learn that there are other ways to be political than just voting and we need to divest both from these two party political systems as well as the US-centric attitude. There’s so many grassroots, community approaches to support each other and create change.
