Bots are such a waste of energy and resources. The little red stop sign on each of these table rows indicates that these 300 "Guests" are seeing Access Denied pages.

In case anyone out there thinks that AI bots are anything but malicious traffic, look no further than the things they keep trying to find on the server that hosts the forum. It's funny to me how renaming a few default folders inoculates me from most attacks on the server.

ninhotline @theninhotline.com · 26/09/2026

I'm kind of impressed at how quickly they route around these rules. The "Linux" traffic eventually stopped (see attached), and now there's a spike from Singapore. Anyway, Linux is allowed again 🤘

ninhotline @theninhotline.com · 25/09/2026

Well I can't go blocking YOU, dude. If ETS stopped working for you today, I'll have it unblocked tomorrow. Trying a few things to try and isolate the bad actor here.

ninhotline @theninhotline.com · 24/09/2026

The motherfucking bots are slamming ETS again. There's no way half our traffic comes from Linux users.

I don't need another copy of The Fragile on vinyl, but if you know someone who'd appreciate a copy, now's a good time to grab one from Amazon. They're $28, as low a price as they've been since COVID shut the country down amzn.to/4x49Ovn

1113

ninhotline @theninhotline.com · 18/08/2026

The price for the white Tron:Ares vinyl on Amazon is currently $14.63, and this is an affiliate link to that product page: amzn.to/4hYmn7R The Amazon price hasn't been stable, but this seems to be as low as it's been.

For the last few years, someone's been selling CDRs of unreleased music by Trent Reznor - for a lot of money. Other people have started manufacturing and selling physical media for leaked audio and digital/vinyl-only official releases, claiming to be filling a gap in the market. It's kinda gross

ninhotline @theninhotline.com · 12/06/2026

Teddy from Interscope asked if I could let you folks know that the Interscope Vinyl Collective store is selling unnumbered IVC copies of The Downward Spiral through the 15th. Sure, why not? With 20 minutes with my camera and an editor, I made this video. interscope.com/products/nin...

I suppose I should have checked my mail sooner, but plan for an ETS outage tonight. Make alternative plans to posting on a forum: go to a Friday night gig at your nearest small venue. It's only like, twenty bucks, right? Yes, ETS is not "on the cloud"

180

ninhotline @theninhotline.com · 17/03/2026

ETS was running slow today, so I checked Cloudflare, and here you can see where the bots figured their way around the "Bot Challenge" protection a few hours ago. OH WELL. Human verification for everyone again! I'll revisit tuning this another time. My focus is on improving the mobile experience.

Sad news: I don't think I've got this tour stuff backed up. Good news: I inexplicably have a backup of Evan Moore's whole ass website. Maybe it's time to bring back SeemsLikeSalvation?

A lot of people underestimate the way [WITH_TEETH] hit fans, old and new, in 2005. Most of the WITH TEETH 20 collection sold out super fast, but pre-orders are open again for anyone who may have hesitated.

Now live: Robin Finck's taking questions in a Reddit AMA about SLEEP AWAKE, the survival horror experience that launched on Steam last week. Robin created the soundtrack to the game, and is a founding member of the studio EYES OUT www.reddit.com/r/nin/commen...

This is an ETS post: The site has been sluggish all week, it's especially bad right now, and I'm actively looking into the issue at the moment. Thanks for your patience. At least it's not AI scraper bots this time. Take a look at the bandwidth usage from the last year. This is why I use Cloudflare.

I realize that I'm pissing into the wind when I say this, but the egregious consumerism around Comicon is already bad. Releasing a limited edition (2,500 copies) of Halo 35/Null 21 as an exclusive there is like pouring gas on fire.

Last week I went back and ripped the single version of The Day The World Went Away for my digital library. One of my favorite experiences from the release of The Fragile was hearing a four minute version of the track on the radio, getting a 4.5 minute version on CD, and a 5 minute take on vinyl.

A presale for unofficial vinyl release of Ghosts V and VI is open on the nincollectors Facebook group. The seller has previously manufactured and sold copies of Still and Further Down the Spiral in this format without getting any pushback from @nin.com so they're moving on to more current releases.

I've been out of pocket all week. I have some thoughts I might post later. I understand why the ticket prices have sent shockwaves across social media. I suspect the resulting pressure for a big production will be resolved - but we have to wait to see how. Big projects have big budgets.

I am so angry about this. My friend Ryan, who runs ninlive.com, has had everything stolen, including his car, in Albuquerque. There are very particular, unique items in this UHaul - personalized signed memorabilia, which, should they turn up in the market, will lead straight back to this theft.
