I’m so in love! My crazy, sexy, cool wife. 💘✨ This is from last week in Punta del Este @ Hotel Solerios. 💜 It’s our first year of marriage && we are FINALLY getting to enjoy it. 😭🥹💗✨🌹🫶🏻💕 #lgbtqia #marriedlife #uruguay #puntadeleste #gaymarriage #love #samelove

A happy couple posing for a selfie at night in front of a glass sliding door. I’m in the foreground wearing a black spaghetti strap top, round glasses, and a delicate necklace, with long brown hair and a tattoo of a dagger on my arm. My wife is behind me, smiling and wearing a white Under Armour hat, black-framed glasses, and a black shirt with peace sign patterns. We are both smiling warmly, capturing a joyful moment together.

We were told to go to therapy, but what about when talking isn’t helping? Turn the news off for a moment and feel your heartbeat. Meditation isn’t a pipe dream. It’s a stillness that’s beckoning you to listen. Are you ready to hear what your body is saying? You’re still breathing… Lean in, fully.

I never thought that I would live in another country, or in a bungalow by the sea. I never thought that I would be rebuilding my life in my 30’s. We had just gotten married & were talking about babies… I never know what tomorrow will bring, but honestly, this is surprising… #uruguay #lgbtqia

A rustic two-story house with a thatched roof, surrounded by lush greenery. A wooden boardwalk with small lights leads to the entrance, and a wooden deck with outdoor seating extends from the front. The house has light-colored walls with turquoise trim, and a small balcony on the upper level. The surrounding area features a mix of grass, plants, and trees, creating a cozy, nature-filled setting.

My memories are fleeting & fickle things. I look back at photos of turning 30 & I just don’t remember when it stopped being so easy to see me. At 33 I feel scattered, hazy. Remnants of neural circuit dizziness. A nervous system crash landed me right on my ass. I’m still looking for me, I guess.

I’m taking a close-up selfie, lying down with my dark hair framing my face. I’m wearing subtle smoky eye makeup, filled-in brows, and a small nose ring. My lips have a soft, natural color, and I have a relaxed expression as I look at the camera against a textured background.

Is it wrong to want safety? My heavy heart feels guilty… Leaving everyone & everything. We just weren’t sure how to proceed if we didn’t leave. This ocean breathes salty. I’ll let these waves carry me.. // uncertainty // #photography #uruguay #puntadeleste #ocean #beach #lgbtqia #southamerica

A sandy beach pathway leading to the ocean, surrounded by sand dunes with patches of green grass. The wooden railings on either side of the path appear weathered. The deep blue ocean stretches to the horizon, with gentle waves touching the shore. The sky is a soft blue with wispy white clouds scattered across.

It felt like this day would never come, but we made it out of the US safely. It was a long flight to South American last night, we are now happily nestled in Uruguay. Here’s to starting from scratch! 🥂✨🌹 #fleefromtyranny #lgbtqia #expat #uruguay

View of plane wing above a night sky. City lights in Miami act as a send off, signaling an ending to an American life.

Photo of a hotel room — a single chair sits peacefully in the corner of a large window. A large pillar decorated in custom wooden detailing. A suitcase and book bag rest stacked up to the side of the chair with a pair of shoes at the floor. A green leafy tree is peaking through the large windows.

Oklahoma City Scissortail Park lit up at night in a dense fog. The sky is a murky color and only some of the lights in the buildings are on. The light from the streetlights look like orbs of pale yellow illumination.
It’s early spring so the leaves on trees are barely there, but the plants in the park are bushy and hearty looking.

I feel weightless, & not in a good way, like a song with no meaning. Like an apology that ultimately means nothing because you can’t re-piece the shattering of missed opportunities. Forgive me if I don’t stay for coffee, these sleepless nights… // they just really get to me // #photography

Manitou Cliff Dwellings; the sun comes through the old Pueblo home and shines bursts of light from the left side angle into the red rock and the rock is sounding off all sorts of red and orange hues. The rock is highly textured with mortar (that’s the same color) packing it tightly together.

My grandma would be so ashamed if she knew what it was. I watch her children vote to remove immigrants & the hate in their heart looks nothing like the sacrifice that was made for us. My cousins, aunts, uncles, mother, sister all wear red MAGA hats. // how could they do that // #immigrants

A black and white photo of my grandmother in her teenage years. Her face takes the shape of a strong Mexican, she smiles lightly through hooded eyes. Her top is white with a light floral pattern. Her lips are the same shape as mine, as my mother’s. Her hair is short and a mix of wavy and curls. She always wore her hair short. Her ears are un-pierced. She is wearing no jewelry. She looks pleased and hardened to be a first generation Mexican-American.

Night shot of a small mesa in Garden of the God’s. A deep blue sky meets a peachy finish right over top of the mesa. You can see the stars and a short stretch of road ahead. The brush on either side is dead because it is winter. There’s a small bush to the right that still has some puffy green leaves.

Professor used to take me for Sunday drives. Top-down Mercedes, as he’d play with my hair. 50 miles out into the middle of nowhere just for fresh air. Judge me. I don’t care. If the world wanted me to show up beautiful, I wanted paid to be there. // sugar bby sunday // #photography #poetry

Huge open space of sun and sky taken on a drive. The sun has bright bursts stretching down and across the right side of the photo. The sky is a deep blue that works its way into a subtle yellow hue the further it moves towards the burst of sunshine. The ground shows nothing for a stretch of some miles. It feels free.

In 20 more days we flee from a country that houses members of our family. We will hug them one last time. We will risk our lives on a plane ride. Fragments. Family left behind. Fleeing for safety. I read Anne’s diary when I was 13… // how is this happening // #poem #photography #lgbtqia

Stormy streets in Colorado Springs ease up to a slow sprinkle. Road meets mountain range, a flash of lightening has lit up the distant sky behind it. Cars parked on either side of the street. An RV faces the camera and behind it is a street light. It’s giving dreary. It’s giving gloom.

The full body of a rose opens up revealing all of the beauty it has to offer. Its cream colored petals lean delicately forward towards the camera. The background of vibrant green are allowing the rose to steal the show happily. There’s an out of focus rose bulb hanging out in a blur to the left front slightly covering the full image of the rose.

A picture of a lake called Lake Sequoia in northwest Arkansas. The trees meet a gray and dreary summers day. It’s hot summer, at the front of the lake there’s a old small dock with a little ladder over the side used by fisherman’s to go out for the day. The greenery is a dimmed hue. Not a lot of vibrancy coming from the picture. Small shallow bursts of green.

Abuelita. I think about her struggles as a first generation American. The way acclimating complicated everything. She created her “American Dream”, she left her mark on things; Healer. I wonder what she would do if she knew I had to flee to have to have a chance at the same thing. #poetry

A picture of my beautiful Mexican abuelita standing in the laundry room of her house in the 70’s. She is smiling a big warm smile, her short brown wavy hair pulled back and away from her forehead. She’s wearing a white blouse with pin-line type embroidery running through it delicately.

Beautiful sunny day in San Diego; sidewalk view of San Diego Park where palm trees full and reaching up to touch blue skies. Colorado green mountains move up and down to form a cascade of a landscape. Red dirt peaks through the places where the broccoli-topped trees aren’t covering the ground.
