Montevideo is much easier to get around because of the city bus and it isn’t a tourist destination. Punta del Este closes down almost completely when it’s not summer. But COT travels from all cities I think twice a day so you can get along the coast with just taking that.

Ah! That makes sense! Yes, it is a small fisherman town. In Montevideo you should do better with finding what you need locally. In Punta del Este and Montevideo they have Fresh Market and Disco Fresh Market and that should suit you better for options but even still, they are LATAM brands mostly.

Cars & rental cars are very expensive ($1,000 with insurance per month with Avis). So everything we need has to come from the local shops right now in Punta del Diablo. If we need to order from online, our home doesn’t have a # so we need our landlord to order and it’s $$$ because import taxes.

The supermercados are very limited. Coming from the US, I have so many brands & products that I prefer that are not here. I’m going without spices & seasonings that I’m used to cooking with. Then, they each only have so much so I have to walk on foot to several to get what I need. 1/2
