dug around for info on 4u rebalance mod, someone i've seen in the community before is vouching for legitimacy so possibly just poor timing for them. all this does is further my hate of ai because i have to look at everything with skepticism and doubt at a first glance unless i wanna get rugpulled.

this just possibly happened twice. first was a sonic unleashed multiplayer mod that openly disclosed ai was used in a comment, and the other is a mh4u rebalance mod that had no prior mentions on the channel that uploaded the trailer, and no information in the description or the two changelog docs.

shitass ai-coding trend making a bunch of interesting mod videos show up on my youtube just to be reminded that it's all ass and they'll fall apart when the monetary cost for the tokens gets too high. could be actual stable mods but nah we get bullshit instead that'll be forgotten in weeks.

Super Mario Sunshine is surprisingly more realistic than later Mario games in one specific aspect: here, Mario will start drowning if he hangs on to a ledge in such a way that water is flowing into his nose and mouth, as one would in real life.

Observe Mario holding on to a ledge that water is flowing over in Super Mario Galaxy (left) and Super Mario Odyssey (right). If realistic physics applied, he should start drowning since his nostrils and mouth are covered by water flowing into them.
However, in these games the air depletion/drowning state is tied to the swimming animation. As long as Mario is not visibly swimming, he cannot be drowning even if he is covered by water.
In Super Mario Sunshine, however, air depletion is decoupled from swimming as an action, allowing Mario to realistically start drowning in this situation (note him flashing red and his air meter depleting).
However, he is saved by Sunshine's (also unique among 3D Mario platformers) ledge tiredness mechanic. After hanging on for 20 seconds, Mario will let go. This is also realistic, since why would he let himself drown?
