Could work in the right company. It would help if you could convince your spouse to dress up as Taverner. You might also need to put on weight for the role, like Oldman did.

There's a recognizable Chicago Law style: plain-spoken, brash, rapid-fire, curious, wide-ranging, ambitious, and above all else in love with the back-and-forth of intellectual exchange. It can be done better or worse, but Randy Picker exemplified the Chicago Law style at its its very best.

Randy Picker’s passing is an awful blow to his wonderful family, friends, and colleagues. He was such a caring, funny, brilliant, and energetic person. I just saw him Thursday, while presenting my paper at our workshop. His last words to me were characteristically generous. Gone way too soon.

This is almost certainly the World Cup effect. The streetcar went right to FanFest and the trains were packed during the days surrounding games. You’ll see some of that in July too - the last game there was played on July 11.

Some thoughts on Chatrie v. U.S. on first reading pass: The Court points out how cellphones are everywhere and we're "addicted" to our apps. Further, we're tracked all the time. (not the Court's job, but gosh, what if we could *do something* about the tracking problem, like regulate data use?)
Among that information is a single fact most pertinent
here: where the user’s cell phone is located at a given time.
Apps of many kinds rely on that datum. Your maps app
wants to help you navigate from Point A (where you are) to
Point B (where you are going). Ride-sharing apps of course
track your location when you are using them, and often do
so even when you are not. Weather apps want to tell you
about local conditions. Fast-food apps want to identify the
closest burger and pizza joints. Fitness apps want to track
your running routes. And so on.

Wang did fine and will win. But I think an argument along the lines of “the government is trying to change the established meaning of the 14th amendment. The Constitution creates a process for doing that, and it’s not by executive order” would’ve really twisted the knife.

It still amazes me that only 3 US states (IL, TX, and WA) provide meaningful protection against this kind of use of biometrics. In those states it’s impractical to get consent to use the feature from people without Facebook/Instagram accounts. What are the other state legislatures waiting for?

I think if you make a habit to glance through the unknown senders messages once a day it should help. I’ve found the benefits >> the costs, especially after a few weeks of working out the kinks. Good luck!

FWIW, I’ve been using the feature for months and have never missed a useful / important text once I calibrated the thing and whitelisted some senders. It’s well-designed.
000
Lior Strahilevitz @thelior.bsky.social · 23/01/2026
You can whitelist 2FA senders easily by marking them as known. And you can always access the unknown senders folder if an expected message doesn’t come through. Unknown senders mainly just stops the notifications and sorts spam to a different folder. So if you know a 2FA text is coming, no problem.
