And now onto this one. I'm just up to the First Congo War here and it reminds me of one of those points that underscores just *how* much geopolitical racism is a thing. If it wasn't Paul Kagame and Laurent Kabila would be names known worldwide.

And now onto these two.
The cover of the book I've started today, Joseph Wheelan's "Invading Mexico: America's Continental Dream and the Mexican War. 1846-8." The cover of the one I will start either tomorrow or Wednesday, Jason K. Stearns "Dancing in the Glory of Monsters: The Collapse of the Congo and the Great War of Africa."

Up to the Great French Wars in this one (which is a nice umbrella term to loop together the First Republic and First Empire). One of the key things this book does is push hard against the idea that because history did take a path, it was destined to do so.

And now onto this one, which I go back to every so often because it's one of those books that rewrote how I think of the world. One of the best anti-Eurocentric books you'll read not least for being matter of fact about it and less polemic.

And now onto this one, a unique example of the War of the Rebellion unit history focusing on the one group you'dve expected intuitively to have more and yet which didn't. The Army of the Tennessee, Grant's army, the one that essentially won the damn war.
