i’ve seen this take a lot today but i really don’t understand the point of it. obviously there are material differences between this situation and police murders, which makes this type of argument just feel like semantics.

What Derek Chauvin did to George Floyd was a public extrajudicial execution. Keep that in mind when you say we haven't had a public execution since 1936.

I understood there would be an oops all X-Men set eventually, that makes sense (much more so than a spider-man only set did imo) but I didn't figure the magical stuff would get their own set. Also there were more mutants than that. Scarlet witch, quicksilver, wiccan and speed (iirc anyway)

I reanalyzed the CDC data behind the LGB “free fall” headline. It rests on a change in bisexual identification among one grade, in one wave, of one survey. Gay or lesbian identification did not change significantly. Calling it a "free fall" is sensational and just gives bad actors talking points.

Six small line charts showing the percent of U.S. high school students choosing each sexual identity response option by grade (9th to 12th), 2015 to 2025, with 95% confidence intervals. Heterosexual falls from about 85 to 90 percent before 2021 to about 73 percent in 2021 and 2023, then rises to about 78 to 80 percent in 2025. Gay or lesbian stays between about 2 and 5 percent throughout. Bisexual rises to about 12 percent in 2021 in every grade, then among 9th graders falls to about 7 percent in 2025, its 2019 level, while other grades stay near 10 percent. “Some other way,” added in 2021, falls from about 4 percent to about 2.5 percent. “Not sure” stays near 3 to 5 percent. A dotted line marks 2021, when CDC changed the response options.

You know, sometimes old ideas do have merit. Fight for a future where people are taken care of and take care of others in return, where the mechanisms of the economy and state are controlled truly democratically by the people, and where the plenty that already exists is shared among us all.

One of the "god pack" cards from Magic the Gathering that for some reason is being touted as a good thing and not yet another way to try and generate infinite growth in a game where there is already an over saturation of chase gimmicks, new sets, and other FOMO revenue generators.

Anyway, this one says "Workers of the world, Unite!" in the top box, and "You have nothing to lose but your chains!" in the second.

Support United Wizards of the Coast's unionization efforts, join your local DSA chapter (or other socialist org, I don't care where you make your home, just join something and help make your community a better place), and try to find within yourself the will to perform the radical act of caring (both for yourself and for those around you, even and especially those you don't know).

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.
