36 years (so far) as a Mental Health Professional has left me highly critical of Mental Health Professionals and the services they create. Very left indeed.

One newspaper (Metro) uses the phrase "sobbin Robbins", yet the BBC chose to use it in the headline for its daily newspaper review. It's sunk low, the BBC, as low as the tabloids when it just doesn't need to.
BBC news online newspaper review headline "'Starmer on the ropes' and 'sobbin' Robbins spills the beans'".

Saw this relic on a wall today and somehow it captured both how things used to be, and also how they still feel. Also fascinated by the assumption that a person in need of this smoked more than one cigarette at a time.
I wall mounted cigarette disposal box. The front is removed leaving on view the discarded cigarettes butts, piled in the bottom of the box. A sign remains which reads, please extinguish your cigarettes here.

Ashamed of this country.
The post is written by a first-year student at King's College London (KCL) who is expressing concern about the high cost of rent in London for their upcoming second and third years. The student notes that while they currently have affordable housing at £169 per week, they are struggling to find future options for less than £1,200 near campus or £800 elsewhere.
They ask if "being homeless on student finance" is feasible, suggesting they could sleep in the university's 24-hour libraries and use a gym membership to shower. They end by asking if anyone else has experience doing this.

Damage is done though. Media obsession with this nonsense following the election meant that Farage and Reform slithered their racist rhetoric onto the front pages for days. This story will see the light of day for a couple of hours before disappearing into air.

Extraordinary. I live in the backwoods of Wales but this sophisticated piece of anti-communist propaganda finds its way through my letter box this morning. Never had one for Les Miserables, despite Cameron McIntosh's genius as Impresario.

Are they though @BBC? This movie is not about an alien invasion, is it. Fair play though, it's a really good way to play on people's paranoia. Not sure if it's constructing the narrative or capturing the zeitgeist. Either way, as worthy as any propaganda campaign from the 30's or 50's.

This from www.philosophyforlife.org/blog/nazi-sp....
Text on image states: "One of the first laws Hitler signed, once the Nazis had dissolved the Reichstag and given themselves absolute power on 23 March 1933, was the ‘Law for the Prevention of Offspring with Hereditary Diseases’, passed on July 14. It enabled the involuntary sterilization of anyone diagnosed with schizophrenia, manic depression, epilepsy, Huntington’s disease, hereditary deafness or blindness, hereditary deformity, mental retardation or severe alcoholism.

The law was inspired by similar laws in US states, but while the US forcibly sterilized around 70,000 people, in Nazi Germany between 200,000 and 350,000 people were sterilized in six years. American eugenicists were impressed."
