A collage made up of 10 photos I’ve taken in museums of ancient Egyptian blue hippo figurines. They hippos are made of Egyptian faience with is a ceramic material made of quartz, decorated in black pigment with depictions of Nile river plants, e.g. lotus flowers. These figurines are associated with the life-giving Nile and regeneration. It’s thought they were placed in Middle Kingdom tombs some 4,000 years ago to help with the rebirth of the deceased in the afterlife.

It's National Poop Day! A giant ground sloth made this well-preserved mess, found in Mylodon Cave in Chile. Bones of giant ground sloths have been found near those of early humans, hinting that ground sloths & early humans used the same caves, though not necessarily at the same time.
