Our paper on odour categorization in the Drosophila mushroom body is now out in Cell Reports! 🎉 We found that αβ and α′β′ Kenyon cells—but not γ KCs—distinguish food-related from non-food odours at the population level. Very happy to see this work published! 🪰🧠 doi.org/10.1016/j.ce...

👋 Happy Friday! Here is the first preprint from the lab, starring Sophie Waldron and Yixin (Demi) Liu! We present a single-nucleus atlas of peptidergic neurons from the Drosophila brain, which we use to identify changes in gene expression under protein deprivation. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

My first paper is up on bioRxiv! We asked a simple question: why are fruit flies smaller when they grow up in a crowded vial? #Development #Plasticity #Drosophila
Micrographs of two Drosophila melanogaster pupal cases. The left pupal case is slightly larger than the right. The left pupal case is marked uncrowded, and the right is marked crowded. A 1mm line is above the pupal cases for scale. Both are males reared on low nutrition; the left is from a vial with 50 larvae, the right is from a vial with 200 larvae.
