Twice in a row the Padres played God Bless America in the 7th inning after the president’s remarks. A unifying message of how San Diego is not a “small price to pay” would have done wonders. No, they chose to go with jingoism, instead. I genuinely feel betrayed.

Miller is an absolute unicorn, but us #athletics fans been knowing: even though he’s great, he’s never - ever - been used in a way that indicates he can hold up in the way that postseason relievers are usually needed (multiple innings, 2-3 consecutive outings). Going up 2-0 in the DS, it’s about a 90% chance of making it to the CS. Padres need to go on a three game winning streak, and I really just don’t see it in them to do that. Postseason was fun, but the Brewers are just a better team. Plan for 2027 post lockout season, now.
