This weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Ornithomimus. In 1890, Ornithomimus velox was given a type species by O. C. Marsh. It was based off a partial hindlimb, and forelimb that had been found in 1889 by George Lyman Cannon. 1/x

This weeks #Lego #fossilfriday is #Tylosaurus Native American tribes that live on the Great Plains speak of an era of giant marine animals that used to be in constant combat with thunderbirds. This resulted in them being petrified. These might be the origins of those stories. 1/4

This weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Thylacosmilus In 1926, in Argentina, three specimens were collected. In 1928 they were reported to the Paleontological Society of America. In 1933, although only preliminarily described, Elmer S. Riggs named them Thylacosmilus. 1/2

New paper out today! Led by Daniel Schwarz, we retrodeformed the skull and reconstructed the cranio-mandibular musculature of the giant stem-amphibian Mastodonsaurus giganteus. Our results show that Mastodonsaurus had a powerful bite and a crocodile- like bite-and-hold feeding style.
