Back on Fortune's Weave - I'm super saddened by how much of the game feels so disposable. I'm already skipping past the dungeon combat because it's boneless, the overworld map feels neat but also bloated, and there's *so many* nothing encounters

If Fire Emblem: Engage has no fans, I'm not on this world. I get people not vibing with it cause frankly the main story writing is pretty embarassing but it also has literally the best map in Fire Emblem history so it's a trade-off 100% worth it for me

I'm a Fire Emblem superfan and this is sadly my reaction to it. Like all I want are tightly designed maps and fun character interactions and Fortune's Weave is sooooooo far away from that Characters are decently interesting but party comp is sooooo slow to pick up, it's ridiculous

Slight tangent, but the information gap is definitely a frustration I have with character building in games/Western RPGs. I don't know if I'm gonna enjoy doing X skill or if it'll have relevance in the design. Deus Ex (2000)'s tutorial nailed that information balance for me, though

The youngest person his pager attack killed was 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah, who had just started 4th grade. The pager was on a table when it went off and she picked it up to take to her dad. It exploded in her face and reports said it covered the room in her blood. She wanted to learn English.

The entire reactionary centrist case is that leftist politicians must distance themselves from Piker to neutralize him as a electoral issue. But when they *do* distance themselves, reactionary centrists still write articles making the link and criticizing their exact wording.

Several leading Democrats, including Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan and House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries, issued statements denouncing Piker’s ugly warning to the Jews as a barely veiled anti-Semitic threat. Abdul El-Sayed, the Democrat running for Michigan’s other Senate seat, trod more carefully. He issued a statement “in response to Hasan Piker’s comments” affirming that “all Americans deserve the right to advocate for what they believe without fear of violence” and denouncing anti-Semitism, but the statement itself did not say whether Piker’s comment qualified as anti-Semitism. El-Sayed instead dismissed Piker as a distraction, saying at a recent rally, “The effort to make this race about a streamer in L.A. is actually kind of laughable.”
