I remember a book series almost exclusively about people doing this but I can't remember much about it, other than I think a main plot point is someone trying to figure out why some gold they had found was more dense than other gold, and seemed like they were going to discover isotopes in the 1600s

I do think this was also inconsistent, I feel like I remember seeing SOME people with Krags, maybe in the first episode when they're showing a scene from the Spanish American war, but once they're in Korea I think they all have Mosins (and also probably versions from decades after this period)

I was enjoying the show but was annoyed every time American soldiers were walking around with Mosin Nagant rifles (very cheap and easily available for film productions to be sure, and would have existed at the time... but American soldiers would have had Krag Jorgensen rifles at the time I believe)

I always feel exactly the same in modern movies when someone who is portrayed to be some kind of *experienced tactical super badass* is wearing a plate carrier and the top of the plate is resting well down on the person's chest (it's generally supposed to be level with the top of the sternum)

Hmmm.... They hold similar weight in my mind but depends on your mood. If you want something very emotional (also trigger warning for suicide) read Solaris, if you want to read something farcical and kind of funny, read Fiasco. I think Solaris is my favorite but I'm not always in the mood for it.
