there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that I can detect online about an Olympian Hiawatha Dinosaur Jitney. This photo is from the 40s and should cause joy for the train nerds among my followers. This photo could have been from numerous places in the Western US and Canada.

I do appreciate the sentiment, although I'd rather trade than fight.

Although the truth of its provenance cannot be verified from the angle of the photo, this purports to be a photo of a note, and blue Bic lighter, left at the grave of Major General Robert Ross, the British commander at the head of the force which in August 1814 burned down Washington DC after the Battle of Bladensburg.
The note at the base of the small monument over the grave reads: General Ross, thank you for your service. You are needed again.

Negro Matapacos, the protesting dog He hated cops, loved protesters and didn't flee tear gas. In his honour, red kerchiefs are often tied round the necks of public statues of dogs, across our world. A true comrade. He passed in 2017.

from @jamespmcleod.ca comes this awesome pic My father in law flew a Lanc in WWII, I've laid a hand on that aircraft (a tire of the landing gear, they'd just changed it), donated money for its restoration, and am now thrilled to have an action shot of this mighty warbird.

A Canadian built Lancaster bomber which saw service in the European theatre for WWII and returned to Canada flies point in a formation of Snowbirds, the military aerobatics flight demonstration team of the Canadian Forces, above the skies of Toronto, 2026.

Rousting out some old photos hiding on various drives in this house. (so... many ... drives). My dad's second from the right and he was one of the 'delinquent kids' in a short film.

My dad was in a film about how a Sgt in the Saskatoon Police Department decided that he could stop teenage delinquency by teaching the boys to shoot. (It was actually low key an ad for ammo, but oh well). This photo shows the cast and crew during a close up shot of a bunch of shotguns on a table (which aren't shown). It's 6 white guys; my dad is second from the right.
