My exhibition is currently up in Edinburgh. I'm quite excited by the mini paintings put together as one art installation & being able to explore the idea of escapism and jumping through portals to get to a better place #Art #Exhibition #Sketch #Painting #Watercolour #Portrait #Edinburgh #Scotland

Yasmin standing in front of her Art Exhibition piece:
Journeying Wonderland
5 black frames with differing portals looking out onto realistic and fantasy landscapes and portraits.
5 glass frames - empty portals for you to use your imagination and choose your own portal to jump through!

Yasmin holds a close up of a glass portal painting in front of a black framed portal painting with a portrait of a black woman looking back out at the viewer.

A fantastic end to my art residency and exhibition #Watercolour Witchcraft! I learnt loads and I look forward to what the next artist in residence brings 😍

Yasmin stands in front of one of her paintings created for her Watercolor Witchcraft art residency and exhibition in #Edinburgh

The painting is of a woman looking up and basking in sunshine, there are hints of greens and yellows. The white frame is covered in green foliage of ivy, ferns, lavender and moss and there is a small model mushroom patch on top of a clump of moss in the bottom left of the paintings frame.

Another watercolour practice! This time working with negative painting! Im enjoying the dark background and the vibrancy of the flowers which I didn't think I'd be able to achieve with watercolour! And the glass 😍 #Art Club #Sketch #Sketchbook #Painting #Watercolour #tutorial #Edinburgh #Scotland

I've been learning all about watercolour and last week I jumped in courageously and have been practicing my portraiture! I took a photo at the end of each phase because I felt I may mess it up at any moment 🤭😂 #Art Club #Sketch #Sketchbook #Painting #Watercolour #Portrait #Edinburgh #Scotland

Step 2- adding some warm washes and saving highlights

Final piece- I'm not touching it anymore just in case it messes up!

Here are a few sketchbook spreads from the last few weeks! I've been trying to slow down and make more time for practice! #Art Club #Sketch #Sketchbook #Painting #Watercolour #Edinburgh #Scotland

A few cursed watercolour penguins. Animals seem to be quite fun to paint

I call this my cafe spread! Croissants, baguettes and coffee! Food seems to work too!

Had a little bit of fun using drawings of little people to spell the word LOVE!

Colour blocking in this one! Began with just paint sticks blocking in the larger shapes. I then went in with a fineliner to add the details to the shape and a bit of shading. Finally adding the words "Manifesting what you deserve".
A nice peaceful page for a relaxing sketchbook club session

A little trip to the Modern One Art Gallery in Edinburgh yesterday. A wonderful exhibition by Everlyn Nicodemus! Even managed a double page spread in the sketchbook! #Art #Painting #Sketchbook #Scotland #Gallery

"Everything is Going to be Alright" is illuminated on the front of Modern One Art Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Yasmin standing in front of a piece of Art Work by Everlyn Nicodemus (there looks to be a character from Among Us bound and laying down... But this piece of work was created in 1992! 🤭

3 of my favorite pieces of work by Everlyn Nicodemus. I loved the oranges, blues and dark teal colours

My sketchbook spread completed on site.
2 of the artists' quotes that resonated with me: "For me, art is an individual revolution" and "No, I can!"

On the left a copy of her self portrait and on the right a copy of 6 of her paintings from the blue room.
All using paint sticks and paint pens from my travel art kit!

Yasmin's sketchbook showing a drawing from Nandos (sitting at table 22!) and the ticket stubs from the cinema, we watched the new Avengers film Thunderbolts! Lots of Washi tape was used because I loved the floral botanical pattern!

Yasmin's sketchbook with two seascape drawings. One during the day with 2 palm trees, the other at sunset with a glowing old shack. Both with lots of flowers and foliage!
I will probably choose the day time one to paint in acrylic as a tutorial for an upcoming paint class!

Morning all 🌈☕ Been working on updating my website to include all my new mini paintings so I haven't had much time to create new large paintings for you 🥹 sorry! Here's an old winter #painting I did a couple of years ago that I love💜 Wishing you a warm and happy day 🥰

Yasmin has painted a beautiful Parisian winter scene of a person in a dark raincoat with bright red umbrella and boots. They stare up at the bottom third of the Eiffel Tower in Paris as the snow falls of a dusky evening.
The painted scene is framed with winter trees with white snow lying on the branches and red winter berries- reminiscent of a Christmas tree with understated traditional tinsel and baubles.
The painting itself sits on an art easel on a balcony overlooking the Scottish sea.
