First Chapter of a Novel?!?

Chapter 1 Mud Mud awoke that morning as he awoke every morning, to the sonorous calls of the shepherds, singing to their wooly charge...

do not touch the massive dong. touching the massive dong is the mind killer. touching the massive dong is the little death that leads to total annihilation. i will face my massive dong. i will allow it to pass over me and through me. and when it has gone, only i will remain

my kids are back in in person school for the first time since Covid started and my wife also went into the office today, so I was alone most of the day for the first time in a while, and its gonna be like this most days now, and its just weird

my kid and I came up with a concept for an anime called “You Can’t Level Up Without a Girlfriend!” It would be an isekai to a Elden Ring-like setting. Main character is a girl who thinks she is straight who finds out she needs a “maiden” to level up so has to find one to survive, hilarity+yuri ensue

by most conventional measures my life has been one failure after another, but when I think about what I should have done differently, my answer is “Nothing” cuz fuck if I know what the right choices were, and I got a kickass wife and some awesome kids. who needs a functioning body or a good career

i did not get my hopes. just a usual, nothing gets resolved because canceled ending, not a hilariously awful ending. although I do have to say I do not understand what Egwene meant by “Let go, Rand!” nor what his vaguely confused look it ended on was suppose to convey

I'm sure Bluesky hacked off most of that headline on mobile, so:

PC Gamer headline: "Dwarf Fortress creator says we can learn something from simply walling up dwarf nobles to maintain an equal society—but notes you have to abolish the dwarf cops, too: 'Another lesson to be had there'"

i do also explicitly mean like, no intersolar travel, not merely extremely slow. we just couldn’t overcome the engineering barriers so we’re locked in here, but we got friends in other area codes

are there any super hard scifi settings where we contact aliens but just never meet them because FTL is impossible and we just like consume their mass media on a fifty year delay or whatever don’t talk to me about pluribus I want like, alien culture is ubiquitous and influential but no FTL travel

it really bothers me Perrin in S3E7 of wheel of time says that Loial and the two aiel shouldn’t return to fight after their mission because three fighters won’t make a difference. loial is a living tank and the aiels have anime fighting powers. 3 shonen heroes can make a huge difference

The reason I know I'm neurotypical is because whenever I go into a new room, I imagine how an object would bounce around the room like a DVD logo, off of walls and furniture. When I daydream, I do the same with rooms I remember from my childhood. This is a thing that we all do, which is normal.

honestly I think references can enhance a work if they 1) show love by either not harming or enhancing the consistency of existing lore 2) fits the story being told 3) the show makes sure you can understand/enjoy it if you don’t get the reference. LD usually does all 3, Picard et al rarely any of em

TheCapmAxolotl ☭ 🌈🐊 @thecapmaxolotl.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

this made me insane because 1) odo got that bucket from his abusive bajoran dad, its not something changeling specific 2) we never see another changeling use a bucket, of this type or another 3) odo later stops using it and just lies in a puddle in his apartment as sign he is less ashamed

important poll: fantasy setting where people live on a planet sized isopod. should it roll around on the inside of a dyson sphere like sphere of lichen to create a day and night cycle, or trundle and the day and night cycle is created by its back swaying (and its tummy is in perpetual night)
