Hello everyone! Bradley Ramsey here, writer of cosmic horror, sci-fi horror, and comedy horror as well. I have two answers: the first is life. There are organisms we've found living and growing in places they shouldn't. Second is potatoes (see the image below 😆) #HorrorWritersChat #AuthorSky

In my gothic cosmic horror WIP, everyone has secrets they don’t want to be discovered. The emotional ties that bind the MC have never been tighter. As she uncovers the secrets of those she loves, she’ll have to choose if keeping them is worth her freedom…and the body count. #HorrorWritersChat

#HorrorWritersChat: It was so good we dressed it up in a pink gingham dress, plaited its hair and took it for some soft-serve. Of course, as it sat there kicking it's tender feet clad in new patent leather shoes, we didn't have the heart to tell it. What happens after. To the things that are picked.

Greetings #HorrorWritersChat I’m Mary, writer of cosmic, gothic, and weird horror and a co-host of this chat. As the owner of a womb, having something unexpectedly, suddenly, and quickly growing there would certainly creep me out. Especially if it started talking to me 😨 nope.

In my mummy WIP, decay has been arrested because of the mummification process. That being said, several people, including a former cult leader, are right now or will be decaying in the near future. #HorrorWritersChat

Q4 #HorrorWritersChat Foreshadowing: Chapter 2 of WIP. Dylan’s expression changes when Georgette mentions children taken below. Innocuous reaction at time but pays off later - hopefully 🤞

Q3 #HorrorWritersChat …Too good. What would I do with all the extra limbs? Dad would have known what to do. He’d have worked his thumb into the end of each wrist & pulled the tendons out, winding them round his fingers like twine while the hand clenched and unclenched in his lap.

Book two places the reader deep inside the inner workings of The Tidewardens who 'protect' the village. But when does protection become control and oppression?

The books so far can be read in any order. Book 1 is a fast paced entry into the strange coastal village of Cairnshore and a quick read at just 100 pages, seen from an outsider point of view of a man searching for his partner Georgette.

It was an odd decision to write a prequel for book two. But, it works in bringing the folklore and rituals of Cairnshore to the forefront, with a real emotional core at its heart. How far would you go to save a family member? Would you place an innocent young woman in their place?

Dylan’s brother is becoming something he barely recognises, and is being prepared for the old thing in the sea, and saving him means delivering a woman back to the village she escaped as a child. THE TIDEWARDEN, is cosmic folk-horror about loving someone enough to do something unforgivable.

#HorrorWritersChat Question Two. I mainly listen to dark ambient music whilst writing. Definitely can't have music with lyrics. Not really used it in writing yet, but do have plans for some horror short stories based on a famous band from Liverpool.

#HorrorWritersChat Q3 Love this Q! It's a late-night recording session, Miles Davis hears a second trumpet answering him from the silence between his notes, though he is the only horn in the room. As his band starts to follow its melody, the musicians vanish one by one.

But the village has a use for that love. It knows what he might agree to if he’s desperate enough. At the heart of this book is that awful question: how much could you forgive yourself for doing, if it meant someone you loved got to come home? For readers who want their horror to leave an ache.

Thomas is changing, and his brother is frightened of how little time they have left. Beneath everything happening to him, he can still recognise the person he grew up beside. How could he stop trying to save him?

Dylan is watching his brother change into something he cannot understand. Every familiar joke gives him another reason to believe Thomas can still be saved. And the people offering to help know exactly what they can ask of a desperate man.
