Couldn’t resist picking up a New Gods 1 reprint for the umpteenth time. The colors on the new one are a little more muted than the one from 2000. And the new one has facsimile ads, too! It’s my official reader copy now!

New reprint on the left. The Orion figure has been recolored to look more normal. Reprint from 2000 on the right. It’s got the weird old coloring but the art is angled and shrunk and there’s a weird gold stamp on it.

Epilogue! There came a time when the old gods died! The brave died with the cunning! The noble perished, locked in battle with unleashed evil. It was the last day for them. An ancient era was passing in fiery Holocaust!

I just wrote that from memory. Nailed it!

Here's a two-pager I did a few years ago that was intended for @kylestrahm.bsky.social's weirdo horror anthology, Tongue Deep, but was actually published in @kylestrahm.bsky.social's weirdo horror anthology, Horrorium.

Two cute kids try to convince their dad to let them buy a copy of Tongue Deep, a depraved horror comic. How can they make friends if they're not plugged into the zeitgeist?!?

Cut to the dad walking into a comic store and asking for Tongue Deep by name. Why is he wearing a hat and sunglasses, and trenchcoat? Why are his proportions so weird? Oh no, he's losing his balance! What? It was two kids in a trenchcoat? WITH THEIR FATHER'S DECAPITATED HEAD ON TOP?!?

"I need this comic to make friends!!!"

I have a speech at my old high school over the weekend, and book ended it with these two Batman pages. From no backgrounds or panel borders to panel borders made out of backgrounds!

Bane gets roided up, then Batman picks a fight with him. It’s drawn by a fairly talented 14-year-old.

Batman and Robin swing over a detailed city. There are panels painted ON the buildings like murals! Complicated!

The Nameless 10th Anniversary Hardcover comes out in two short months! Here’s an arbitrary page from issue 5 that I really like. Having the panel borders align with the perspective of the page is a constant obsession of mine. And I love the trick of the flashforward horrors in the gutters.

Nameless and crew enter a techno seance room. The gutters are filled with a flash forward vision of the massacre to come.
