So, very sorry. I lost my beloved collie last month and I will co-sign your petition. The too-short lifespan of dogs is their very worst feature.

It is the source of so many of our evils: the astonishing concentration of wealth in the hands of a very few, and the immense political power that gives them. We cannot solve our problems until we tackle it. This week's column. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

At the root of all our problems stands one travesty: politicians’ surrender to the super-rich | George Monbiot
There are many excuses for failing to tax the ultra-wealthy. The truth is that governments don’t tackle the problem because they don’t want to, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

If the Palestine Action hunger strikers die - which they could do at any moment, as they are now very close to the end - it will be the government that killed them. Today’s column explains why. Please share, and write urgently to your MP. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Let’s be clear: if the Palestine Action hunger strikers die, the government will bear moral responsibility | George Monbiot
The three remaining hunger strikers have been convicted of nothing. Yet with astonishing cruelty, ministers refuse to listen to their reasonable demands, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Does this mean that Starmer would sit back whilst Putin kidnapped Zelenskyy or Iran kidnapped Netanyahu? Because one state kidnapping the head of another state (no matter how objectionable) is not how things have previously been done under international law. And this is a genuine question.

Starmer is supposed to be a lawyer. Which bit of international law does kidnapping a head of state from inside their own country by another state fall under? Does this mean Iran can now kidnap Netanyahu without consequence? Or Putin kidnap Zelenskyy? Because this is what Starmer is condoning here.

Do you remember when Corbyn became leader of the Labour Party, and said he wanted to tax wealth and make lives better for ordinary people and the LP became the largest party in Europe by membership? And then the media and agents from within the L P worked tirelessly to destroy Corbyn and any hope of change?
Now I see Zack Polanski doing the same with the Green Party - only this time his party is standing with him.
It's almost as if people want hope and a better life for everyone, instead of a subsistence in a capitalist hate filled hellscape.

No matter what you do, the far right will always want the next cruelty, and their torch-bearers in the press will attack you for not delivering it. All while priming voters to conceive of far right concerns as newly moderate. Again, this has happened in every single place this has ever been tried.
You’ve driven away your traditional base, while sanitising the racism of the far right for low information voters, who now consider them more reasonable.
You have moved the sensible middle position toward the far right — where you now stand, boxed in, by the ghouls you’ve just baptised as moderates.
And the slide continues. Because you cannot placate these people. You cannot reach an end.
Round up every refugee in camps and they’ll want the next cruelty.
Their concerns are not about society, the economy or public safety, they’re an ever-moving target of fear and hatred that cannot be sated, it has to be challenged.
And now it’s too late, because you thought that you — and you alone! — would be the first centrist to steal the fascist’s lunch by agreeing with them rather than fighting them with every fibre of your being.Daily Mail headline NO CAP ON MIGRANTS IN LABOUR'S CRACKDOWN, in response to the most repulsively draconian statements about immigrants evere uttered by a Labour government.
