At first I felt a bit ridiculous drawing a whole movie poster for our little docu-series on youtube, but then I decided that any human-made media deserves some celebration right now.

In school I wasn’t excited about the required reading, so I taught myself to speed read out of spite, with this book, so I could blitz through the list & read whatever I wanted. Incase you ever feel like your artwork is all over the place. Here are some things I made within hours of each other. All fine separately but together: deranged

Something I wish folks knew about being trans (and immigrating) right now:

I get it. They’re anxious. They care. And they want to believe I could have reasonably prevented my current circumstances.

But trans people are 50% more likely to experience homelessness than cis people. Over half of us report abuse or discrimination in healthcare. I was no exception. Then my visa was denied due to lack of financial evidence, and it’s illegal to work without status.

Caring for us is as simple as doing an extra google search. It means unlearning a few biases about homelessness or poverty, immigrants or identity documents.

It means trusting that we need the help we say we need. It means asking different questions.

People who do those small pieces of extra work become lifelong friends and trusted allies. ”
