The Zine Directive @the-zine-directive.bsky.social · 02/02/2026

Our social media has been quiet for a while, but behind the scenes we've been as busy as the lower decks on red alert! Very exciting things are happening here at The Zine Directive... 👀 We are starting to build the actual physical zine and we couldn't be more excited! Stay tuned for more updates!

It's so fitting that the first line we actually typed on a typewriter for the zine was, "It had to have been near the very beginning--"

*Opens my trenchcoat* Or perhaps I could interest you in a secret third option? ★ Beside Myself #fanzine, DEW, 1990 ★ #ZineAppreciation #spirk

A drawing of two mirror Spocks (with beards) and one Kirk (unclear if he's regular Kirk or mirror Kirk). One of the Spocks is nude and the Kirk is wearing a small pair of underwear (a thong I'm pretty sure). Both of them are reaching for the second mirror Spock while looking at each other. This mirror Spock between them is fully clothed.

I used to live in Stirling so I have a nice little collection of photos of the Wallace monument from a distance. Felt like I could always see it!

The pointed top of the Wallace monument in the distance over a marsh.

The Wallace monument at sunset peeking over the treeline.

The Wallace monument way in the distance from the top of Dumyat hill.

The Wallace monument peeking through the smallest window in the treeline over another section of the marsh.

sketch of spock and kirk at the end of their fight in amok time. spock stands over kirks body, gripping the ahn-woon wrapped around kirk’s neck with both hands with the two ends hanging between his legs. like balls yeah

~ Suzan Lovett, Final Frontier #fanzine, 1982 🤍 #k/s #spirk #ZineAppreciation ~

A collage-like drawing of three different sex scenes (or poses, at least) between Kirk and Spock. The first one is Kirk lower, kissing Spock's upper stomach as Spock touches his ear and neck, both of them naked and hard. The second is Kirk on his back, both of them desperately clutching each other, Spock's face buried in Jim's neck. The last is Jim with his head thrown back, legs around Spock and leaning back as he kisses his chest. Each scene is in a white circle imposed on a black background of stars.

Art by B.P. Gordon for "If Freedom Fall?" (1981) ★ #ZineAppreciation #k/s #spirk #nsfw #fanzines ★

A drawing of Kirk and Spock in bed, nude but not kissing. Really nothing sexual is happening. Spock is soft, Kirk is posed in a way you can only see a little of his butt (and Spock's hand resting on it). Spock is leaning against Jim's chest and sliding a hand up his thigh, which Jim is covering with his own hand. Spock also has immaculate chest hair.

Kirk and Picard need to be switched on the Nerd/Jock axis. Picard won all the runner’s medals, played pool, and started fights in bars. Kirk was a book worm who played chess, was considered grimly serious, and was regularly harassed by a bully.

it's interesting that fandom girlies in the 70s/80s didn't really care about city on the edge of forever despite it being the most popular episode now... i can't imagine that it was just because kirk had a serious love interest, but maybe??

Saturn Rises Behind A World of Haze - From Ian Regan - flic.kr/p/2fpiy2Z

The Saturn image—captured on May 4, 2005—was created using raw monochrome images taken with the Cassini spacecraft's wide-angle camera (WAC) via red, green and blue filters. Assembly by Val Klavans.

The Titan image—captured on March 31, 2005—was created in a manner similar to that of the Saturn composite. Assembly by Val Klavans.

These two color composites were merged in Paint Shop Pro 9, using a special 'mask' layer, created by Ian Regan and Val Klavans.

korby: "can you imagine how life could be improved if we could do away with jealousy, greed, hate?" kirk: "it can also be improved by eliminating love, tenderness, sentiment. the other side of the coin." what i wouldn't give for spock to have been there JUST for a reaction shot to these lines

(s1e8) back to back scenes where kirk is being physically lifted and thrown then ordered to kiss an android who proceeds to slap him in the face is such a rollercoaster. he's having at least six awakenings in this episode alone
