My favorite PEBCAK error was a marketing firm that kept on killing their expensive Watchguard routers. They thought they were unsightly and would cover them with towels and such, causing them to overheat. I burned my hand, picking it up the first time. Cover vent holes are there for a reason, folks!

I've worn a lot of hats over the years. One thing I picked up when I first entered the job market 40 years ago is that 'they/them' is perfectly acceptable when you don't know a person's gender. "Hell, I am looking for Sam. Are they here today?" Using they isn't new. Being offended by it is, though!

Keep in mind that the rule isn't really aimed at the teacher. Teachers usually will do the right thing by their students. No one becomes a teacher because they hate kids. The rule is *really* aimed at undermining kids' trust in the one adult that many kids feel are really on their side. /1

I first joined the other site years ago when Mythbusters was running a competition. I didn't win, but I got to follow a few of the cast members and enjoyed it. Also found other people whose work I admired and followed them, as well. I didn't post much, as I don't do a lot of interesting things.

I am missing my wife tonight. How I wish she were still here for me to cuddle with. We often would snuggle up and watch TV, often playing on our phones, but still snuggled up, comforted by each other's presence. She was the best of what humanity could be. Miss you, love.
