Art Dump Part 1: WIP Robot Designs (A) E2-E4 Nanogram Benny The Bouncer Soul Trees

A note paper drawing of a robot named "E2-E4", named after the Manuel Gottsching album.
It is comprised of rectangular, checkedboard-covered segments connected by long, thin tubes, with lengths of jagged, barbed wire coming out in several places. It's humanoid in shape, with a cubic head, and a chess timer in its chest.

A small paper note drawing of a robot named "Nanogram", after the song by England.
It has a centaur-like build, with four legs and two seperate arms. The legs end in shoe-like shapes, while the arms have claw hands. It wears a small cap marked with an envelope symbol on its head, and on its back there is a container with two carrier signal flags on the sides.

A note paper drawing of a robot called "Benny The Bouncer", named after the ELP song.
He has a crab-like appearance, with six legs and a large claw as its left hand. The right hand appears to be normal, but the head is a strange, movie camera-like apparatus.

A note paper drawing of a robot called "Soul Trees", named after the Asturias album.
It is a large-bodied robot with a vaguely rhinocerous-like oblong and horned head.
Soul Trees wears patterned clothing on its body, with a haramaki, and jacket on top, with characters that read his name in Japanese on the breast.
Its backside, including the head, is covered in mossy growth and miniature trees.

Post something random or you'll have an awful December

A disturbing, yet funny image of a brown primate-like creature violently straddling a large, thick-furred yeti. The creature's claws dig into the yeti's skin, drawing blood. Their faces are edited to exaggerate their expressions, and below there is a caption reading "Season's Greason's".

RARE and SPECIAL individuals, beautiful and shining. Merely 16... of which one is to be included in the next prize set.

Sticker of a disjointed character design, featuring an upside-down face, floating parts, random objects. This character is known as "Santa", and the sticker has a pretty holographic background.

16 instances of the sticker described in the previous image, laid on top of bubble wrap.

Finally painted something new!

A painting on a triangular canvas.
It depicts an angular figure made of white lines with a cube head, flat rectangle body, and roots/branches in place of limbs. The figure is located in a worn grey chamber which has an opening high on a wall, revealing a blue sky with white clouds and birds flying by. The root sprouting from where the figures left leg should be is rooted into the floor of the chamber, while a branch in place of its right arm has grown greatly, with many branching ends, one closest to the window seems to be have a couple yellow sprouts.
The growth in place of the figures other limbs is small and weak-looking.

The same painting as in the previous image, but it is lit up by a phone cameras flash.

User Mike Hamilton, RIV tweeted a screenshot of the original tweet to say: "being alive is as special an occasion as it gets" fundamentally altered my brain."

User Oliver Darkshire quote tweeted Hamilton to say, "Ten years as an antiquarian, hearing nothing but "my relative kept these untouched in a box their whole life but they died and I don't want this stuff" has radicalized me. annotate the books. use the china. wear the clothes until they wear out. your life should not be a museum."

Best birthday ever... Had a lot of fun and got classy goodies, details on that in the alt text. I also got well wishes from friends and family, and even a digital art piece from one! It is a lot to be grateful for.

A monstrous sundae that could kill the average man, instead of a birthday cake.

Chocolate chocolate chip, bourbon vanilla and walnut ice cream.
On top of all that there were sprinkles, peanuts, M&M's, chocolate wafer tubes and pink whipped cream.

This was at least one meals worth of dessert, but I conquered it.

A painting by my sister, and her gift to me.

It is many things, it is bad energies transformed into an act of love.
It's also irrefutable proof that she is an artist, despite what she claims about herself.

Most noteworthy, however, is the fact that it's her first painting in college, and on top of that her first ever non-assignment painting.

It is a great privelege to receive and own, because of that.

A haul of CD's, rich and rare, of high quality Japanese make, all Mini LPs.

It includes a copy of Can's "Future Days" in UHQCD format, and a Disk Union-exclusive Can Fest Vol. 2 free bonus coaster.
It's quite the obscure and valuable collectible, especially since I possess the coaster from Can Fest Vol. 1 as well.

Behind them both lies the jewel of this haul, a Disk Union-exclusive promotional storage box for a series of four reissues of Motoi Sakuraba's progressive rock music, including one album by a band he was in during the 80s.
The box itself is a free bonus that comes with the purchase of the whole series from one specific major distributor. It greatly enhances the value of the albums, while also providing an elegant and prestigious storage solution.

as an excercise, I designed 4 characters for an imaginary rpg game party. the general story is that something across the world is stealing things from everyone, both physical and conceptual. check the alt text for info on each fellow!

AYEXEI (or Ayelexei) The Birthday Beholder

A beholder-like creature with a whole body and legs and arms with 3 fingers on each. He wears a shabby little outfit and a birthday hat.

His story is that his birthday got stolen, party and all, on the very day of the event. Naturally, he ventured out to get what's his back from the...
...thing.

MONTÉLIMAR The Puppet Patissier

A simple pastry chef-like puppet with a curved goatee, large moustache, little puffs of hair on the sides of his head, and big eyebrows covering the eyes. Strings are attached to his head, back and arms.

A talented and renowned pastry master, part of a duo with his puppetmaster, but he was seemingly stolen away from him. He joins Ayexei on his quest to reunite with him, and do his best on his own.

MOE The Sentient Statue (with mind powers & wheels)

A stylized moai head creature with small wheels at the bottom, two beady eyes covered by the shade of his brow. His teeth are gritted in nervousness and his lips twisted by nerves.

He has not falled victim to any robbery yet, but he feels lost in his life. This comes from being moved from museum to museum repeatedly, as visitors report a mysterious disembodied voice talking to their minds when near the statue, but unfortunately no one had connected the dots and figured out that it's the statue doing the talking. He joins the party on a whim, hoping to finally belong somewhere.

NO MAN The Nonexistent Nomad

Not a man, but the outline of one, outlining only the absence of someone. Pure blankness, that it. Additionally, a censor bar lies over their eyes.

Their entire identity was stolen.

Small recent physical art dump, including: - pingus - red amonger collection (feat. my sister) - seafoam wizard and octopus - unknown/untitled

Tiny canvas painting of a silly little penguin, on a white and blue background. It's face consists of a small pointed beak and two beady eyes.

Approximately five drawings of a creature called "Red Amonger".
It generally resembles a crewmate from the game "Among Us", but taller, with more realistic legs, and an uncanny detailed face.
The first drawing is a simple red marker silhouette of Red Amonger, with the face drawn over it with pen.
The second drawing is a simple pencil sketch of Red Amonger, grinning. A ponytail and singular small wing has been sketched on by a different artist.
The third drawing portrays Red Amonger with fishnet stockings, large lips, and heavily eyelashed eyes. It is also surrounded by small wings, a halo, as well as hearts and sparkles. Some loose change is scattered beneath it, drawn on by John.
The fourth drawing is done in red pencil, it simply depicts Red Amonger as a ballerina, complete with tutu, and proper shoes. Its face has a pleased, focused expression.
The fifth drawing depicts a "scottish" amonger, wearing stereotypical attire, with bushy eyebrows and moustache. Its typical back-pack is replaced by bagpipes.

A blue brush practice drawing on card. It depicts a loose and hazy figure of a bearded watery wizard, waves on the sea, and an octopus above them. The background is gently blued and tinged with faint lines.

A strange painting on card. Depicts round blue points of varying sizes interconnected by wavy green lines, with plenty also shooting off outwards and off frame. The background is yellow.

I'm actually wondering whether or not Tom Penaguin's album or "Somewhere Not Here" is my top pick. One magnificently scratched a Canterbury itch that's been with me for a long, long time. The other is a simply stunning acoustic performance that has to be heard to be believed. It's a hard choice...

000

The John @the-john.bsky.social · 10/12/2024

Since I've just received my last CD for this year, here are my favourite albums from this year.

"Somewhere Not Here" by the Japanese band Acoustic Asturias.
A beautiful new showing after 13 years, combines prog, with chamber music and a tad of folk. Performed completely using acoustic instruments, as you could guess.

The self-titled second album by French musician Tom Penaguin. Years in the making, Tom's highly personal effort showcases masterful Canterbury Scene compositions, nailing even the atmosphere. It is also a completely solo performance.

"Silent Transition" by the Swiss band Flame Dream.
Even after nearly 4 decades after their last release, the band is sounding better than ever! Solid, classically produced prog, by the entire original lineup.

"Focus12" by the legendary Dutch band Focus.
A really pleasant, somewhat laid back new showing from the band. Even now, some new musical territories are being tread upon by this quartet.
