fan-bloody tastic.... I've been trying to login to my NPM account for a week on my new computer, and I have no choice but to wait for your support team to reset my account. I've been waiting for 3 days. I hate hoop jumping

I do wish chromium supported just a bit more of the page/print media spec... cross-references, page groups, and running headers would make my life so much easier...

but in no small way does it feel like those individual pieces underscore just how cludgy the underlying mesh is. I don't know if it shows or anything: but I'm kinda tired of dealing with the innumerable little gotchas of the web >.<

and the devil of it is that taken individually, each recent API or feature to make for better UX *is* an improvement: Dialog, Popover, Anchor Positioning, focusgroup. They they will make things better both from UX and make the DX of doing so better, in detail

Accessibility makes for good UX, for sure, but I feel like the current state of things makes it really hard to get to the "Good UX" part even before accessibility considerations.

This has been stuck in my head all day. First, to be clear, I completely agree, but I think accessibility is just the biggest and first-in-line victim what has felt cludgy on the whole.

i wish *quality* of audience was a measureable and rewardable a metric as *quantity* of audience... if it were by some wave of some magic wand, then i think the landscape of youtube would be VASTLY different

Seeing an AI gen thumbnail will make me instantly click "dont show me this channel".. and oh gods, do you remember the badly photoshoped mutated face trend? Never again....

Rob @thatrobhuman.com · 27/08/2026
personally, for whatever another opinion is worth: I can live with a clickbaity title so long as the title is still meaningful. I do draw the line at overly clickbait thumbnails, though - or AI Slop ones (not that I ever would have to worry about that with you).

hey @norsehound.bsky.social - silly question: remember your Star Wars Armada campaign map? How would you represent a nebula in that style?

i mostly hang out in the maker scene. id like to think that a lot of sectors are chill, but i don't have the wherewithal to test it.

i don't know what it is about youtube specifically, but my gods do the comments have the greatest predisposition to being the densest (and not as a measure of how much information they contain) even worse than twitter. i dont know how you do it, I simply cannot stomach YTs comments section at all.

new thing I learned today: pointer-events: stroke respects stroke-dasharray!

Rob @thatrobhuman.com · 21/08/2026
interestingly, I just had an occasion where I needed a "does any space-seperated token of an attribute start with 'foo'" selector. Had to get clever with spaces and combination of "~=" and "*= " instead.

Rob @thatrobhuman.com · 21/08/2026
its gonna stick there now innit? Still, I pine for a path-length unit, or to have % mean some amount of the path length in that context rather than "a percent of the diagonal length of the svg canvas"

Flock takes their privacy very seriously. But the ethical gray area in surveillance technology works both ways. Under no circumstances should elected officials or public servants enjoy an expectation of privacy when spending tax dollars to attend a surveillance lobbying event.

I had no idea calc(infinity * x) was a thing until one of his recent videos.

I was struggling to think of how I could get these two thicker areas of each wire as a handle-hint where one can grab to reroute. Two paths underneath the main (one reversed). borrowed from @kevinpowell.co stroke-dasharray: 45px calc(infinity * 1px); makes for a single constant-length dash

that "Move to New Custom Node" has already proven to be wonderfully useful for me.

A few QoL updates: - A viewport control bar - better context menus - select all, cut, copy, and paste keyboard shortcuts - the ability to re-route links by dragging on a link near a socket.

yeah, that checks out. really the ballet is the fun one. Honestly that has been my biggest niggle about nost starship games ive played in recent years (Looking at you star wars armada): lack of seeking weapons. That whole deterence and area control aspect is so oft missed out on.

i don't have a screenshot handy, but homest arrays, loops, and vector math are coming in the next version, plus some more cleanup.

i just got the dreaded "our competitors are doing an AI thing, we need to do an AI thing" from my COO. Im beginning to feel like theres only so many times i can say "this is a REALLY bad idea" before I end up becoming a "not a team player"...

Im reminded of @blackmagiccraft.bsky.social and his early adoption as well. He, too, took some pretty drastic measures to do right by artists that, imho, he probably didnt need to, but did anyways.
