Great point!! NMS could have went under super quickly (and maybe in today's climate they would have), but they instead dug in, fixed a majority of the issues and created amazing stuff for a very long time. One of my favorite stories in the games industry. Now I want to play NMS lol

I am glad they kept it going for so long and introduced new cars, weapons, missions & events over time. Oh, like the NASCAR style stock cars + truck - that was a super cool surprise when those dropped, then getting to drive them around the city and on custom oval race maps. Lots of memories made :D

I think regardless if the content is free, is paid DLC, or in this case pushing currency purchases, the fact that it allowed the devs to get to make game content for a living & continue adding cool new stuff for as long as they got to is the main thing that I love seeing.

Yeah fair I totally get that perspective. I didn't mind them focusing on the Online content primarily, I really enjoyed online. I just treated it more like a friendslop title and less like a grindy live service game. It was fun to make money in racing and sumo, etc. and then go do heists w/ friends

Terraria and Minecraft are two other games that are even older, but I feel like those are pretty obvious. I just think my brain hurt a bit when I realized how old S4 is aha Still amazing to see these games still receive support as they navigate through the evolving tech space and continue to grow.

Late night thought, but usually when I think of standalone games (non-mmo titles) that have received consistent dev support for a long time, I always think of GTA V. Then today I realized that Sims 4 came out in 2014(!) and still gets content updates and expansions regularly

Woke up this morning to the difficult news about Andy Williams. One the biggest legends in the HX/metalcore scene. I got into ETID about 10 years ago and fell in love with this dudes riffs. This guy inspired me to make my own music and give learning guitar a solid chance.

Noticed these parodies of real world paint schemes in the GTA VI preview, looks like a (very loose) Monster Energy parody using the almost exact 54 JGR font, as well as an obvious reference to the mid-2000s Lowe's 48 car. Also I'm very excited for the circuit and street racing in this game wowowow

I'm dev-focused on this issue 100%. I've experienced how it feels to have leaks for something I've had a part in get thrown around forums and social posts and it's not a nice feeling. I feel for those devs, man. That's 13+ years of hard work reduced to quick viral shares on video sites. Shit sucks

Remember that while the leaks for GTA VI are "deserved" in the face of R* being shitty on a corporate level with the union busting and greediness, there are hundreds of devs seeing their HARD WORK exposed to the world with 0 pomp and circumstance, and that is something that shouldn't be celebrated
