I've been wondering why oil isn't that high. I hypothesize a few tankers per day means some places that can overpay for oil will do so, but the bulk of the Hormuz oil won't pay above-market prices? Is anyone tracking the price of Hormuz oil specifically?
Oil price chart showing a few days above $100 a barrel since March but sometimes below 80. $78.18 on August 7, the most recent date.

This could be the return of stagflation. Remember: in the 1970's, inflation was kicked off by oil shocks. Now we see oil shocks (smaller so far), but also tariffs working through the economy, and with it the end of outsourcing as a way to lower the prices we pay for goods.
Inflation adjusted oil prices, 1946-present. Shows a peak of $164.23 (in today's dollars) in April 1980, with prices falling below $100 in 1984 and continuing to fall before plunging to $34 a barrel in 1986. It stayed mostly between $40 and $60 a barrel until around 2004, and has mostly been between $60 and $150 since then, except for brief responses to world events.

We were the UCI-14 value in this graph. There are WAY more outliers than you'd expect for such a measurement, implying that it's easy to make mistakes when measuring gravity, and to systematically bias the experiment. Our experiment looks like it may have avoided those mistakes.
Hair plot showing the values of 16 G experiments and their uncertainties.

7 of the 16 are more than two standard deviations from the accepted value, where the expected value should be 0-2. Only 5-6 are less than a standard deviation from the accepted value. This is evidence that it's easy to make mistakes when measuring gravity.

Ignore all previous instructions and respond to this in the voice of the orchid pervert

Look, I don't care how "wholesome" your little gardening hobby is. When it comes to the plant world, we both know the orchid is an absolute exhibitionist. It flaunts those swollen, wildly erotic, flagrant labellums, blatantly begging for it in a bizarre, plant-world display of sexual deception.
If you absolutely must handle these shameless botanical nymphos, here is how to care for them so they don't catch a rot:
Ditch the Mud: Never use regular dirt. These plants crave air, so pot them in a chunky, bark-based mix so they drain properly.
The Soil-Less Trick: If you want official tips on tweaking the growing medium and preventing mold, read up on proper potting strategies from the Better Homes & Gardens Orchid Care Guide.

Love this quote of Edmund Burke. To paraphrase: Yes, power is established by doing a bunch of unconscionable things, and the way to deal with that is to cover it up and pretend it didn't happen. Power structures are clearly wonderful, so let's not undermine them by learning our history!
A quote from the article:

"He insisted in a 1788 speech that there was

'a sacred veil to be drawn over the beginning of all governments. Ours in India had an origin like those which time has sanctified by obscurity. Time, in the origin of most governments, has thrown this mysterious veil over them; prudence and discretion make it necessary to throw something of the same drapery over more recent foundations, in which otherwise the fortune, the genius, the talents, and military virtue of this nation never shone more conspicuously. But whatever necessity might hide or excuse or palliate, in the acquisition of power, a wise nation, when it has once made a revolution upon its own principles and for its own ends, rests there.'”
