I’ve worn these Keen boots to work every day for five years. I bought them at Acme Workwear on Mission. I loved them and I have been reluctant to admit that they are beginning to come apart a bit. I went back to Acme Workwear, they still sell the identical boots, so now I have a new pair!

Waymo makes transit service worse in San Francisco. Their vehicles block bus zones, double park where the bus cannot get by, get stuck and generally suck. They are also getting noticeably worse as time goes on and the company pushes the boundaries of what it can get away with.

Today I am operating coach 8637, which is wrapped in the Maroon and Yellow livery that Muni’s New Look GMC buses were introduced with in 1969. These buses looked better in Landor, but I still like them. I especially love the way the front of these buses were shaped.

Today I am operating coach 8649, which is wearing a tribute livery modeled on the cream and green “wings” livery Muni vehicles would have been using 75 years ago. I am not a huge fan of how it looks in vinyl on a New Flyer, though it looks very classy on PCC Streetcars 1006 and 1008.

Yeah, I remember them being in the mix for quite a while after the current scheme was introduced. The current scheme is technically also a tribute to the colors that Muni Streetcars had in 1912. We operate Car 1 on Heritage Days and it’s spectacular.

Happy 31st birthday to this scar on my head. On May 11th, I had a life saving brain surgery at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. I was 10 years old. My family has celebrated the anniversary as Brain Day ever since. 🧠
