To put this in perspective chestnut trees used to be dominant species in the United States. Billions of trees were killed by fungal blight and now fully grown America chestnuts are functionally extinct. There is no getting them back. Ever. All for a data center. www.gadgetreview.com/one-of-ameri...

One of America’s Last Chestnut Groves Is About to Be Destroyed for a Data Center

A rare 200-tree American chestnut grove in West Virginia may be cleared for data-center development, but the project denies the site is on its land.

Yesterday, Border Patrol evicted the tree occupation blocking the border wall construction at Lochiel, Arizona. Today, despite arrests and further repression, people occupied a tree on the south side of the easement, once again halting construction. crimethinc.com/meltice#ariz...

They're putting a new Angela Anaconda short in front of the Madoka film which is why the US release is being delayed.

Making a new spin off of warhammer in the vein of bloodbowl called footkill. Its like football but violent. The main faction wears red+white and is the defending champs of the footkill warhammer cup. However the two orc teams (wearing blue+white and green+yellow) end up more popular.

Alas. Like all popular animes, Madoka gets blamed for this and not the copier.

010

Wannabe Cat--Back to the Dev Zone @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io · 04/10/2026

The problem with Madoka, like all popular anime, is that anime writers will just copy elements from the show without understanding how it slots into Madoka.

Wannabe Cat--Back to the Dev Zone @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io · 04/10/2026

My biggest take away from Madoka rewatch is that if you wanted to adapt the way Madoka is used as a character in the show into a novel, it'd be best to write her like watson or some other epistolary novel protagonist. A witness for things to honestly recant to the reader as she makes her decision.

For what its worth, I do consider it to be yuri. I'd say even debating it is silly. Whether or not you find the yuri to be satisfying is something else.

Yeah. I have some thoughts on that, but i do think it has more than just "yuri" going for it wrt queerness. Intentionally or not it feels reflective of the trans experience.

110

Wannabe Cat--Back to the Dev Zone @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io · 21/09/2026

has issues, but good show. An original anime that cares deeply about the animated part.

100

Wannabe Cat--Back to the Dev Zone @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io · 21/09/2026

I don't its that split. What it rejects is the fairy tale true love that Grace+Rowan keep pushing for her own definition of love "I want a world with Mari in it". Her definition is also a rejection of what we see Grace+Rowan push through out the show. Even if Grace does help Lara+mari reach it.

110

Wannabe Cat--Back to the Dev Zone @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io · 21/09/2026

Yeah. Hence why i am sympathetic to that. If it was just one anime series it'd not be a problem but when its all original anime then it is an edict which is a problem.

140

Wannabe Cat--Back to the Dev Zone @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io · 21/09/2026

I think the ending could be executed better, but its wild that in a 23 minute anime episode, where every line counts, that people seem to gloss over "you want us to live together" line.

050

Wannabe Cat--Back to the Dev Zone @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io · 21/09/2026

I'm more sympathetic to no kiss issue, but this is an industry wide issue--not a single show issue.

120

Wannabe Cat--Back to the Dev Zone @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io · 21/09/2026

It's kind of wild after decades of holding "Utena" up as the best yuri anime, we get an anime with an ending that thematically follows Utena's footsteps and it gets rejected.

The 'wow!! a gundam!!' meme, but wherein the viewer calls Goodbye, Lara yuribait as the message 'Fairytales have toxic and prescriptive endings that preempt the agency and choices of female characters, even and especially queer ones' flies over their head. Then they say 'kiss already!!'.

Wannabe Cat--Back to the Dev Zone @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io · 20/09/2026

At the same time, I think "Sayonara Lara" is not trying to give clear "here is how they live now" with its cast. It makes its stance on LaraXMari pretty clear. And I believe, despite what people say they want, people struggle bus the moment a show opts for ambiguity over just satisfying the viewer.

Wannabe Cat--Back to the Dev Zone @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io · 20/09/2026

I think, like always, worth keeping a firm hold on what commercial anime is, and what its limits are. Both show would probably benefit from being more explicit. Tho if you want mermaid lesbians to be more explicit there is always "The Lovers". www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUa2...

While I am not an unabashed g-witch defender, I will note after seeing some reacts to this and prior with g-witch it really does feel like people want an ending that explicit explains X to them.
