I get that a lot of people still don’t know who like Bryce Turang is, for an example, but most teams have a guy like that who Maybin claims is extinct who is an incredibly well-rounded player/hitter.

My theory is this mentality comes from people who are reading/listening to way more toxic baseball conversations or just watching highlights more than the games. All those things ARE still valued. Mr. Maybin should watch these teams left standing. Most of them do the little things well.

Good point, it would be tricky. You'd also need to make sure to balance it out to where nobody goes on a brutally long road trip, which is tougher to do with that schedule. They'd definitely need to tinker with the approach (again).

It's a proposal that I imagine at the end of the day saves the owners some money, sure, but I think there are additional benefits to players and the environment.

I don't know if it makes sense to cut eight games off the schedule to do it, but I would support MLB having a weekly off day as long as they mirror the minor league schedule. The past few years, the minors have Mondays off and play a Tue-Sun series. Cuts down on travel a ton.
