Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 21hJust back from a very slow 10k and what a beautiful morning it was for it. Love it when it's calm, but then there's still so much going on inside the stillness. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 18/09/2026Went to a brilliant talk by Max Adams for his new book Domesday. The book is so far up my street it’s in my house and just helped itself to a biscuit from the cupboard. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 25/08/2026Did a very slow run/walk tonight whilst listening to the latest #plodcast episode featuring @steverutt.bsky.social. Absolutely excellent, resonated so much. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 15/08/2026I tried to go for a run/walk this morning but for some reason I had absolutely nothing in my legs and just wanted to stop. So I did. I instead sat by a stream, did some meditation, listened to @tinyleaves.bsky.social and watched some buzzards. Made me feel better. 041
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 08/08/2026Love the history and heritage of the FA Cup so went to watch Bottesford Town v Aylestone Park in the extra preliminary round this afternoon. Finished 6-3 which worked out at 78p per goal! The Poachers have just got to win 12 more games to get to the final at Wembley … 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 02/08/2026Just done the first couple of chapters. So readable and almost learn by accident! 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 02/08/2026Absolutely loved the podcast, so now it’s time for the book! @charliehigson.bsky.social 100
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 26/07/2026My wife and son have gone away for the weekend so I’m naturally watching some old TIme Teams. Never before have I seen a head and face more suited to being a medieval poaching expert. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 03/07/2026Treated myself to a new book today. May We Feed The King by Rebecca Perry. Starting it tonight. 🙌🏻 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 24/06/2026I thought the same and read this a little while ago … ! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwik...tvtropes.orgOrange/Blue Contrast - TV TropesWe'll start off with a little warning: after you finish reading this article, this color combination will be everywhere you look. It will follow you around and constantly haunt you, it's too iconic in... 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 22/06/2026Back to reality today, but doing a quick slideshow from my trip to the highlands cheered me up. What a place. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 17/06/202622:36 in the highlands and still light. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 17/06/2026Another few white tailed eagles but the goldie remains elusive! Still time though. And had compensation via my first sandpiper. Loving every minute here. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 15/06/2026Another lovely day and so lucky with the weather. Did a VERY slow 9 mile run and pottered around the estate this afternoon. Still no golden eagles but plenty of time left, hopefully … 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 14/06/2026So, sadly no golden eagles (yet) but did see some white tailed eagles and loads of other wonderful wildlife. The weather was kind, it’s been a lovely day. 040
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 13/06/2026Staying in Strathdearn / Findhorn Valley for a week. 12 hour journey to get here - via a Park Run - but was worth it. Really, really (really!) want to try to see my first Golden Eagle (seen lots of WTE) so the quest starts tomorrow after a a good sleep. Stags in the garden. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 11/06/2026After several months due to life and work getting in the way of things, I've carved out some time and headspace so I am getting back into the 3d modelling / historic reconstruction groove. I enjoy it so much and can't wait to get started again. :-) 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 10/06/2026Ahhh, lovely. As a Yorkshireman, would have preferred a white one. 😜 100
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 10/06/2026Other than avoiding the news, any recommendations for how one can stay positive in the face of the world seemingly going to absolute shit? Struggling. 100
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 09/06/2026Ran 4 slow miles tonight as in October I’ll be trying to complete a marathon in memory of a mate who passed away last year. It’s going to be slow and it’s not going to be pretty but I’m determined to give it my best shot and raise a few pounds for some good causes. 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 26/05/2026Just finished Seascraper by Benjamin Wood. A beautifully written novella that I really got into in the first half. The second half - however - and especially the ending - left me a wee bit non-plussed. A writer of great talent and maybe I'm just not bright enough to appreciate it fully. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 23/05/2026Ah man, that's achingly beautiful. Jealous. Enjoy every minute. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 22/05/2026Had a wander up to the River Derwent tonight. Tens of thousands of adult Mayflys living their best 24 hour lives. 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 17/05/2026And before I head to Elland Road, I’ve treated myself to a wander round one of my favourite @waterstones.bsky.social. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 17/05/2026Had a brilliant 11 mile walk (and a mini pub crawl!) in the Yorkshire Dales yesterday. Arncliffe - Kettlewell - Kilnsey - Arncliffe. Stayed at the Falcon Inn which is pretty unique and very memorable. Loads of curlews, swifts and oystercatchers. A great day out. 140
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 14/05/2026Finally! The swifts have arrived over our home. 😍 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 13/05/2026Do you have the ID knowledge / skills all in your head or do you have to consult guide books during/after your sessions? Very impressive either way! I see so many interesting things but struggle to ID! Bought the new Collins '5 point' ID guide last week which I'm enjoying. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 08/05/2026I'm still waiting! The last 3 years they've arrived overhead on 9th of May so any day now ... ! 100
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 04/05/2026Helped clear our village beck of debris and crap today in preparation for the annual village duck race in a couple of weeks! The event raised over £3k for charity and community causes last year. Oh, and the ducks are rubber ones! 😅 400 get chucked in at one end and ‘race’ 50m or so down the beck. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 03/05/2026This has been on my TBR pile for months. Finally started it tonight and have absolutely loved the first chapter. Have already made notes of some passages. #hollowplaces #christopherhadley 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 01/05/2026This is great. Some amazing high pitched voice squeaks. Superb. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 01/05/2026Had a wander around Wheldrake Ings in the @ldvnnr.bsky.social this morning on one of my favourite days of year. So many birds, I couldn’t keep up! Managed to hear a cuckoo but didn’t see the crane! 062
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 30/04/2026It really does! I struggle with October, despite it being the month of my wife and I's birthdays, it also heralds the beginnning of the end; poorer weather, darker nights and the heating going on! 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 30/04/2026May really is the best month of the year. 110
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 30/04/2026Still waiting for my first screech here in Yorkshire. 🙏 110

Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 21/04/2026Had a real urge to be near to some water this morning, so got up early(ish) and came to the Derwent to just sit for 30 minutes. 030
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 11/04/2026And don't even get me started on this one. Bloody hell! 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 11/04/2026I love football and I love birds, so I'm fascinated by football clubs with birds in their name or on their badges. But how can they get it so wrong?! Jeanfield Swifts in Scotland, for example. I mean, that's a Swallow! 110
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 10/04/2026Went for a short stroll tonight and was delighted to see a barn owl out hunting it's supper (or breakfast). Lifted the spirits. 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 05/04/2026That’s a banger! Love that. May I ask how you made it? 110
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 05/04/2026Had a great walk in the Yorkshire Dales today. First of the year. Waterfalls, lambs, an old Knights Templar chapel, wagtails and curlews, a pub lunch and a pint. Happy days. 030
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 24/03/2026Today I found out (thanks to @blorengeviews.bsky.social on the Plodcast) that goujons - as in chicken goujons - derives its name from the gudgeon fish, presumably due to its shape and size?! 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 23/03/2026Really enjoyed that! ... There's quite a lot of bird links to the football clubs. For example, there's three teams with swifts as their suffix; Heybridge, Dunganno and Stourbridge. Plus Walsall have a swift on their badge! Plenty of others appear on badges as well! 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 22/03/2026Ah lovely. Nice part of the world. I've actually never made it to the wetlands though. Worth a visit? 100
