Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 06/10/2026A decent birthday book haul … (ignore the nose hair trimmer! 😅) @akblakemore.bsky.social @kevparr.bsky.social 121
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 04/10/2026Just back from a very slow 10k and what a beautiful morning it was for it. Love it when it's calm, but then there's still so much going on inside the stillness. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 18/09/2026Went to a brilliant talk by Max Adams for his new book Domesday. The book is so far up my street it’s in my house and just helped itself to a biscuit from the cupboard. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 25/08/2026Did a very slow run/walk tonight whilst listening to the latest #plodcast episode featuring @steverutt.bsky.social. Absolutely excellent, resonated so much. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 15/08/2026I tried to go for a run/walk this morning but for some reason I had absolutely nothing in my legs and just wanted to stop. So I did. I instead sat by a stream, did some meditation, listened to @tinyleaves.bsky.social and watched some buzzards. Made me feel better. 041
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 08/08/2026Love the history and heritage of the FA Cup so went to watch Bottesford Town v Aylestone Park in the extra preliminary round this afternoon. Finished 6-3 which worked out at 78p per goal! The Poachers have just got to win 12 more games to get to the final at Wembley … 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 02/08/2026Absolutely loved the podcast, so now it’s time for the book! @charliehigson.bsky.social 100
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 26/07/2026My wife and son have gone away for the weekend so I’m naturally watching some old TIme Teams. Never before have I seen a head and face more suited to being a medieval poaching expert. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 03/07/2026Treated myself to a new book today. May We Feed The King by Rebecca Perry. Starting it tonight. 🙌🏻 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 22/06/2026Back to reality today, but doing a quick slideshow from my trip to the highlands cheered me up. What a place. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 17/06/202622:36 in the highlands and still light. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 17/06/2026Another few white tailed eagles but the goldie remains elusive! Still time though. And had compensation via my first sandpiper. Loving every minute here. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 15/06/2026Another lovely day and so lucky with the weather. Did a VERY slow 9 mile run and pottered around the estate this afternoon. Still no golden eagles but plenty of time left, hopefully … 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 14/06/2026So, sadly no golden eagles (yet) but did see some white tailed eagles and loads of other wonderful wildlife. The weather was kind, it’s been a lovely day. 040
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 09/06/2026Ran 4 slow miles tonight as in October I’ll be trying to complete a marathon in memory of a mate who passed away last year. It’s going to be slow and it’s not going to be pretty but I’m determined to give it my best shot and raise a few pounds for some good causes. 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 26/05/2026Just finished Seascraper by Benjamin Wood. A beautifully written novella that I really got into in the first half. The second half - however - and especially the ending - left me a wee bit non-plussed. A writer of great talent and maybe I'm just not bright enough to appreciate it fully. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 22/05/2026Had a wander up to the River Derwent tonight. Tens of thousands of adult Mayflys living their best 24 hour lives. 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 17/05/2026And before I head to Elland Road, I’ve treated myself to a wander round one of my favourite @waterstones.bsky.social. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 17/05/2026Had a brilliant 11 mile walk (and a mini pub crawl!) in the Yorkshire Dales yesterday. Arncliffe - Kettlewell - Kilnsey - Arncliffe. Stayed at the Falcon Inn which is pretty unique and very memorable. Loads of curlews, swifts and oystercatchers. A great day out. 140
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 14/05/2026Finally! The swifts have arrived over our home. 😍 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 04/05/2026Helped clear our village beck of debris and crap today in preparation for the annual village duck race in a couple of weeks! The event raised over £3k for charity and community causes last year. Oh, and the ducks are rubber ones! 😅 400 get chucked in at one end and ‘race’ 50m or so down the beck. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 03/05/2026This has been on my TBR pile for months. Finally started it tonight and have absolutely loved the first chapter. Have already made notes of some passages. #hollowplaces #christopherhadley 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 01/05/2026Had a wander around Wheldrake Ings in the @ldvnnr.bsky.social this morning on one of my favourite days of year. So many birds, I couldn’t keep up! Managed to hear a cuckoo but didn’t see the crane! 062
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 24/04/2026Went to watch LYR tonight. They were great. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 21/04/2026Had a real urge to be near to some water this morning, so got up early(ish) and came to the Derwent to just sit for 30 minutes. 030
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 11/04/2026And don't even get me started on this one. Bloody hell! 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 11/04/2026I love football and I love birds, so I'm fascinated by football clubs with birds in their name or on their badges. But how can they get it so wrong?! Jeanfield Swifts in Scotland, for example. I mean, that's a Swallow! 110
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 05/04/2026Had a great walk in the Yorkshire Dales today. First of the year. Waterfalls, lambs, an old Knights Templar chapel, wagtails and curlews, a pub lunch and a pint. Happy days. 030
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 22/03/2026My dad picked me up a copy of this book recently, so I’ve been dipping into it all weekend. An absolutely brilliant book and worth every penny of the £25. A real bargain and what a project by @ldvnnr.bsky.social. 161
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 20/03/2026What a great place Ludlow is. Been a few times but never spent more than a few hours there. Must remedy that, soon. 130
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 14/03/2026I did a 7.9 mile run in up Dentdale today. I’m out of shape, overweight and slow, but I really enjoyed it. Curlews, skylarks and oystercatchers. And a pint. 😀 020

Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 07/03/2026Managed to get a reasonable snap of a redwing at @northcavebirds.bsky.social @northcavewet.bsky.social yesterday. Very quiet in terms of both people and birds, but never not enjoy a walk round there (and a bacon butty of course) 0143
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 17/02/2026Currently in Gran Canaria for some winter sun. We did a boat trip yesterday to see some Atlantic Spotted Dolphins. I say ‘see’, I spent 4 hours chundering into various sick bags whilst not moving. Worst €40 I’ve ever spent. 😅 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 11/02/2026Pleased to get out for a pleasant 10k run/walk this morning before heading off for some winter sun tonight. I love British seasons but I’m also very much looking forward to seeing some blue skies and feeling a little warmth on one’s face. 030
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 07/02/2026Went to the football tonight. Love a good winter night match. 000
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 06/02/2026I’m doing the Yorkshire Marathon in October in memory of a really good pal of mine who passed away last year. I’m in my mid 40s, overweight and super slow, but I really enjoy getting out in the countryside and just moving. I did 10 miles this afternoon in miserable conditions. So good for my head. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 27/01/2026From a morning that’s doing its best to dampen the spirits, heres a pic from last summer and bluer skies. My son having a kickabout on the best football pitch we’ve ever played a crossbar challenge on. Eriskay, just after Storm Floris moved on and left us a few days to enjoy the island(s). 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 24/01/2026Great weekend down Gloucestershire. Tewkesbury is an absolute smasher. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 20/01/2026WFH all week so just been out for a quick lunchtime leg stretch. Amazed to see a tree creeper locally. Didn’t have my camera unfortunately, but the little thing was unmistakable. Lovely. 010
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 15/01/2026New book night and this time it’s The Trail of Blood by @andynairn.bsky.social. First line; 𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵. 100
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 12/01/2026Always exciting when it's new book time. Tonight it's a new audiobook and I plumped for The Postal Paths by Alan Cleaver. 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 12/01/2026A day of annual leave for some #dadmin, but managed to get out for an hour for a leg stretch and was rewarded with a bullfinch, goldcrest, corn bunting and a lovely horse! 020
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 11/01/2026The weather is appalling and I’ve got a bit of a hangover so I’m having a very lazy afternoon and plan to start my new book; Little Kingdoms by @alexharvv.bsky.social. Can’t wait to get stuck into it. 130
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 10/01/2026Out in York today for a beers, possibly lots of beers, so went out for a very slow early morning 5k. Beautiful wintry conditions. Buzzards and hares everywhere. 050
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 04/01/2026I’ve got a lot of goals that I’m working towards in 2026, one of them is to complete a sub 5 hour marathon in memory of a really good pal of mine. I’m adopting a run/walk strategy and this morning I did a nice 10k to start things off. It’s was a stunningly beautiful day for it. 040
Lee | This Familiar Spot of Ground @tfsog.co.uk · 03/01/2026The Christmas holidays are quickly drawing to a close. So, to keep the back to work blues at bay for as long as possible my son and I went for a drive to a local cafe for scrambled eggs, bacon and tea. 010
