Grrrr, today's Wordle is an acronym. I didn't think we could use acronyms.

I made a thing! Point `npx @tforster/docs0` at a Markdown docs folder root. In less than a second, get a nicely formatted, easy-to-browse documentation viewer. - Full TOC - Per-page table of sections - Single self-contained .html file to share and publish. #docs #documentation #dev #developers

@itsfoss.bsky.social, your bsky posts always truncate the URL. Can you fix that so that we can infer more context about the post before committing to clicking through?

I am still keeping my GitHub account for now, since many tools and clients use GitHub. But I have dumped my Copilot subscription. I am also testing out Forgejo for my own repos, running on a Pi in my closet, with daily backups to Cloudflare R2.

Productive week. I just brought multiple services in-house and cancelled subscriptions for 1Password, DigitalOcean, GitHub and Azure DevOps.

When I lived in the city (Toronto), I cycled to and from work, which added up to ~5000 km/year. It was so easy. Now that I work from home, I don't have that required commute, and I really miss it. I am looking forward to my new working/walking habit.

Thanks, @vdmgolub.bsky.social, I just pulled the same trigger as @chriscoyier.net. However, it comes out to CAD$300. Still, we can't put a price on health, eh?

I am really curious to see how comfortable you find it while typing and using your keyboard/mouse. I have toyed with the idea of an underdesk treadmill - I can chew gum and walk, but can I type and walk?

Day 20 (consecutive) of my renewed habit of retiring early enough to get a good hour of reading in bed. As a child I devoured books. As an adult late bedtimes prefixed by mind numbing TV happen too often. Current book: To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini

@pdfops.dev It used to be opt-in. According to the article, it is now effectively opt-out. Most developers probably won't opt out and will end up using Node libs when web libs could do the same job.

110

Troy Forster @tforster.com · 10/09/2026

With NodeJS compatibility on by default, I fear more developers will unwittingly ship Node-dependent code. Leading to heavier and more bloated payloads and far less portability.

000

Troy Forster @tforster.com · 10/09/2026

Cloudflare has made NodeJS compatibility a default behaviour, and this is a bad thing. developers.cloudflare.com/changelog/po... One of the outstanding features of Cloudflare Workers was their adherence to Web Standard APIs, aka WinterTC/TC39, guaranteeing portability.

developers.cloudflare.com

Node.js compatibility is now enabled by default

Workers with a compatibility date of 2026-08-04 or later enable Node.js compatibility by default.

I'm sure no-one in the @nytimes.com or any other major news outlet will call this statement genocidal. That will say more about them than 1.000 editions. This is genocidal rhetoric by a man with the power to turn it into reality. A failure to call Trump out is complicity Complicity in genocide.

Trump says transgender people will "end" if GOP keep Congress in midterms.

Every decision Trump makes is to harm his own people. America renaming L. Ontario to L. America means every US atlas, map, scenic lookout plaque and other material has to be reprinted and paid for by Americans. The rest of the world including Canada will still use L. Ontario.

A baguette needs to be javelined for best effect whereas you can frisbee a naan which means that while distance on a baguette is dependent on your shoulder and effectiveness of your kinetic chain, the naan will travel further even with worse pronation due to physics. Naan win everytime
