Saw a new style on Telegraph near Ashby. 2 seats separated by a pole with a small shade structure that looks to only be good around noon. More anti-homeless design...

Don't understand why these are being pushed when the underwater data center concept seems to have died off already. And underwater at least makes some sense since the water can be used for cooling

yesterday i went to what might (sadly) be one of the last open houses for the Nuclear Ship Savannah, docked at Pier 13 in Baltimore. she has been well-maintained and was in incredible condition. her reactor has been removed, and you can walk through the former reactor containment tank!
the side of the boat with her beautiful "atoms for peace" ship logothe deck map on the wall in the entryway, each deck is a metal plate slightly wrapped around the wall. a welcome board reads
"Welcome aboard NS SAVANNAH. Celebrating 73 years of Atoms for Peace. We still like Ike. (and dates this year you can visit. another public site visit is for november 14th, their website mentions september 12th for guided tours)on one of the decks, a warm wooden door leads into the veranda; a dining room with a dance floor and bar, and big windows facing the stern of the ship. her decks are a lovely shade of tealish greenthe Savannah's atom log is often found on doors and floors, such as this one, leading to the Eisenhower Room (for presentations) the walls at turquoise and the glass is tempered/frosted so only the logo is clear and see-through. the frame of the door is metal and the handle says "Pull"

To add insult to injury, all studies so far suggest there are no commercially viable nodule fields in the proposed lease area. The western lease nodules aren't even polymetallic nodules, they're carbonate concretions with a thin layer of manganese. It's harm for the sake of harm.

Importantly, El Niño—even a very strong one—does not guarantee specific outcomes in California. However, this year’s exceptionally strong event will likely result in a strong tilt in the odds toward a wetter than average winter, and also toward individual heavy rain events.
Screenshot of factsheet subsection text. It reads: "Importantly, El Niño—even a very strong one—does not guarantee specific outcomes in California. This is particularly true with respect to winter precipitation and inland flood risk. However, this year’s exceptionally strong event will likely result in a strong tilt in the odds toward a wetter than average winter, particularly in central and southern portions of the state, and also toward individual heavy precipitation events. This may increase the risk of inland freshwater flooding of rivers, creeks, and streams, though it is important to note that consequential flooding can occur in California during any winter—El Niño or otherwise."
