its tough to answer cuz i came up with the whole backstory of cursed Peach after already deciding to make her the villain of an entirely unrelated story LOL

posting abt my silly edgy fanfic is the scariest shit in the world but it's better than never making any of it public

There's a caveat to the mask, which is that it has to feed on something, particularly on emotions. Joy is fleeting, guilt lasts a good while, grief is forever. What she did curses her to be effectively immortal until she can somehow move on. Only then can the mask be starved.

After Mario and Bowser's deaths and 25 years of civil war that she is forced to mediate, her kingdom falls under siege, she is mortally wounded and she puts on the mask. At that point, she realizes that her kingdom cannot be saved, and she chooses to destroy it.

In my story, Peach was raised to be the perfect guardians by complacent royal Toads that don't particularly get the ins and outs of humanity.

The idea behind my Phanto is that it is simply a tool that unleashes a guardian instinct within the wearer, without any inhibition. It can be protective, or destructive, depending on their psyche at that moment.

The only thing I like abt the star children thing is that it implies wario is more important than waluigi on a cosmic level, otherwise i'm ignoring it because i find "the chosen one" to be a lame trope lol

me spitballing abt mario humans and the place i want them to have in the Thing i'm working on

I'm a weirdo in the Mario sphere in that I find the core cast, and specifically the humans, a lot more interesting than a lot of the RPGs' side characters and the fantasy species.

And this is like a thing I dont fuck with in fantasy or sci-fi stories in general, like the way humans are supposed to be "the normal ones" meanwhile every other scrimblo is 100% better adapted to that world and to magic.

The reason im focusing on humans is cuz theyre the weird ones.

They dont know where they came from, there's not that many of them, and everyone else lives like up to thrice as long.
There's like specific niches of sapience that everyone but them falls into, they're contradictory beings.

Everyone judges them for being imperfect and chaotic, but they also mythologize and deify people like Mario and Peach who were just as imperfect in life.

"The Princess received good news today."

3D render in the SGI style, depicting two toads relaying information to Peach in her throne room. They are at the bottom of the stairs leading up to her throne, where she sits looking exhausted, with her hair visibly graying.

There is no lighting in the room other than cold ambient light.

i’m the kind of weirdo that finds the core cast more interesting than any rpg side character simply because them being blank slates makes the rare slivers of personality a lot louder by comparison, and that shit keeps me creatively fed for yeaaars
